TFE Hotels, ShriGo Hotels and Grand Amanta Expand

STR said China hotel RevPAR the week ended 12/24 was down -21.9% year over year and down -38.9% versus the same week in 2019. Absolute occupancy was 41.4% versus 51.1% the year before week. For now, there are really only two things that matter. The first is getting Covid to peak and start to see cases rapidly decline and the second is that on January 8, China will drop quarantine requirements for international arrivals. For now, travelers will be hesitant to go the China, Macau and Hong Kong due to the massive wave of Covid infections and because many countries are imposing restrictions on those arriving from China.

Marriott International said its transformation of the Sheraton Hotels & Resorts brand continues to build momentum across the globe. Greater China now features eight properties including the soon-to-open Sheraton Xi’an Chanba. The hotel will offer 228 residential-style guest rooms and suites and a Sheraton Club, an exclusive space for Marriott Bonvoy Elite members and Club-level guests. Other openings planned in the future for Sheraton in Greater China include Sheraton Beihai Resort and Sheraton Lanzhou Anning.

TFE Hotels will launch into 2023, opening three new-build hotels in the first half. The Adina Apartment Hotel Pentridge Melbourne will open in Australia in February. The 110-apartment hotel was developed by the Shayher Group and is part of a billion-dollar lifestyle precinct in Coburg which also includes residential apartments, shopping, dining outlets and an outdoor cinema. The new build portion has been added to a section of the former prison known as Division B. The Vibe Hotel Adelaide will have their soft opening on February 14. The 18-story upscale hotel, with 123 guest rooms will be the first Vibe hotel in South Australia. The hotel incorporates an urban pool deck, spa, sauna for guests in a ‘resort in the city’ vibe. In March, TFE Hotels will debut in Switzerland with the opening of the Adina Apartment Hotel Geneva. The hotel will offer a choice of 140 one- and two-bedroom or studio apartment-style hotel rooms, set within an 11-hectare lifestyle precinct. The hotel is being developed by PG Promotors SA and owner Claude Berda.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of three new hotels in the heart of Shanxi province in China – the 367-room Wyndham Grand Shanxi Xiaohe Xincheng, 222 room Wyndham Shanxi Xiaohe Xincheng and the 500-room La Quinta by Wyndham Shanxi Xiaohe Xincheng. The three hotels are located next to Xiaohe International Convention and Exhibition Centre and add more than 1,000 rooms to Wyndham’s China portfolio.

Berjaya Corp Bhd said they are selling their trust beneficial interest in the hotel component of the Four Seasons Hotel & Hotel Residences Kyoto, Japan, for 49 billion yen in cash. BCorp said the disposal will enable the group to monetize its investments in the hotel, with an estimated gain exceeding RM600 million. The disposal is targeted to close in mid-March. Subsidiary Kyoto Higashiyama Hospitality Assets Tokutei Mokuteki Kaisha entered into an agreement with Japanese firm Godo Kaisha Tigre on the proposed disposal of the trust beneficial interest. Another subsidiary of BCorp, Berjaya Kyoto Development Kabushiki Kaisha will leaseback the hotel from Tigre for 17 years.

Hilton announced the signing of a management agreement for DoubleTree by Hilton Kyoto Higashiyama, in partnership with The Sankei Building Co. Ltd, Kyoko Asset Management Co., Ltd and Granvista Hotels & Resorts Co., Ltd. The 158-room rebranded hotel will be the first DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Kyoto and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2023. This will be the third Hilton brand to enter Kyoto in two years after Roku Kyoto, LXR Hotels & Resorts in late 2021 and the recently opened Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma. Hilton Kyoto is scheduled to open in 2024.

New World Development has sold the Pentahotel in Hong Kong for US$257 million. Local developer Wang On Properties teamed up with NY-based Angelo, Gordon & Co to take over the 695-room hotel in east Kowloon. This is part of New World Development’s plan to sell US$1.28 billion worth of non-core assets during the financial year ending September 2023.

ONYX Hospitality Group announced the launch of Y Hotel Hong Kong. The 96-room Y Hotel is set along the tram line in the Sheung Wan area and officially opened its doors on December 23. The non-smoking Y Hotels offers rooms ranging from Classic to One Bedroom Harbour Suite overlooking the city or harbor. The hotel offers facilities such as iLink, an indoor area equipped with tablets and Internet connection; Terrace – an open air leisure space and self-check-in kiosks; and Source Bar, located on the first floor of the hotel (soft opened).

Accor said they expanded their portfolio of ibis hotels in Thailand with the opening of the ibis Chiangmai Nimman Journeyhub in Chiang Mai in the northern part of the country. The hotel has 142 guestrooms, an all-day restaurant, fitness center and an outdoor infinity pool with views of the jungle-clad mountains and Doi Suthep.

Accor also said they signed their first Mercure property in Kathmandu, Nepal. Set to open in 2026, Mercure Kathmandu will bring 105 keys to Ring Road. The property is being developed by The Metropolitan Hotel Private Limited. The hotel comes complete with dining facilities, including an all-day dining restaurant and bar, alongside a fitness center, an indoor swimming pool and meeting facilities.

Marriott International’s Courtyard by Marriott brand announced the opening of Courtyard by Marriott Navi Mumbai, located in the business hub of Navi Mumbai. The 105-room hotel is the second Courtyard by Marriott property in the city of Mumbai and the 25th in India. That makes it the largest brand within Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio in the country. The hotel is located 24 kilometers from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. It includes four dining options, open-air infinity pool, fitness center and 3,617 square feet of meeting space.

Deep Distilleries & Breweries Private Limited, part of the Deep Group of Hotels, announced the signing of a franchise agreement with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts for a new hotel development in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India under the midscale lifestyle and trendy Ramada Encore by Wyndham brand. The hotel sits on over 12 acres of land adjacent to Ramada Plaza by Wyndham and Ramada Hotel & Convention Centre on Kanpur Road. Once operational the hotel will have more than 100 rooms with guests able to enjoy some of the common facilities across all three hotels. Once open the hotels will have over 400 rooms in the one location.

ShriGo Hotels will be opening five new hotels in 2023. The company owns and manages hotels in India and abroad. The new properties in the company-owned pool are slated to open in key tourist destinations in the North Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. All the properties are currently under construction and are expected to be ready this year. Two hotels, one resort and one 4 star hotel, will open in Varanasi in UP and one each in Chitrakoot, Bandhavgarh and Kheoni, all in MP.

A leading luxury resort and hotel management company in India, Grand Amanta, recently announced robust expansion plans for Pan India. They are set to launch new properties across 16 locations in India, part of the company’s long-term vision and plans to become one of India’s biggest chains of hotels and resorts. Grand Amanta plans to commission 11 resorts by March 2026.

Grand K Hotel Suites Hanoi officially opened on December 28th with a total investment of nearly VND1 trillion. Invested in by Constrxim – HOD, Grand K Hotel Suites Hanoi is part of Golden Park, a complex of offices, hotels and apartments under construction since September 2017. The hotel covers floors 32-45 floors of the Golden Park building with a total area of over 4,500 square meters. The hotel consists of 262 hotel rooms and high-level apartments with restaurants and the Grand K Ballroom conference room.
