Marriott Promises 100 Properties in India by 2025

STR reported China hotel RevPAR, the week ending April 8, was up 108.5% on a year-over-year basis. It was up against an easy -49.5% comparable in 2022. When compared with the same week in 2019, China hotel RevPAR was down -16.4%. The results cannot be viewed as apples to apples as it includes a holiday week shift.

STR said Melbourne’s hotel occupancy was the highest for any month since February 2020 in March 2023. Preliminary results showed occupancy averaging 77.3% while average daily rate was A$245.13. ADR, and RevPAR were at their highest levels for any month on record while occupancy was still down by -9.8% below the pre-pandemic comp. The highest occupancy level was recorded on March 31st at 90.7%, the first day of the Australian Grand Prix weekend. That means April was off to a great start.

Cebu Landmasters Inc is set to open its first mountain resort project, the MagsPeak Mountain Resort and Villas, in 2025. The 21-hectare mountain estate located in Magsaysay Peak, Brgy Sunog, Balamban, CebuPhilippines will have 12 exclusive mountain villas, 20 hotel rooms, a clubhouse, heated infinity pools, and a farm-to-table restaurant. The resort is a joint venture between MagsPeak Nature Park Inc. and Cebu Landmasters. It will be managed by CLI’s hospitality arm, CLI Hotels & Resorts. Cebu Landmasters Inc. currently has a hospitality portfolio of 10 hotels, resorts ad co-living in key cities in Visayas and Mindanao.

The Aleenta Retreat Chiang Mai officially opened in northern Thailand. This is the third property under the Aleenta brand from Thailand-based luxury boutique hotel specialist AKARYN Hotel Group. The property offers 44 rooms and suites, a restaurant, bar, spa and wellness center. The rooms, one and two-bedroom pool residences and a four-bedroom teak villa with a private swimming pool merge traditional Thai design with a palette of natural hues, furnishings and tech-savvy facilities. The resort is home to one of the brand’s signature Ayurah Wellness Centers. The Garden is the resort’s restaurant and the 1892 Bar allows guests to relax on the balcony overlooking the resort’s spiritual blessing garden. The resort is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

Hilton and Dangayach Group announced the signing of a branding and management agreement for the launch of Waldorf Astoria Jaipur, marking the debut of Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts in India. The hotel will span 22 acres overlooking the Aravalli Hills. It will include 51 expansive pool villas and 174 guest rooms. It will also feature a luxurious spa, an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, and five dining experiences including the Peacock Alley, the iconic lounge and bar synonymous with the Waldorf Astoria brand. Waldorf Astoria Jaipur will serve as a great venue for celebrations, weddings and world-class events with over 2,400 square meters of meeting space and 3,000 square meters of open lawns, courtyards and gardens.

Marriott International CEO Anthony Capuano was interviewed at the HICSA Conference in Bengaluru, India this week. He said Marriott plans to expand to at least 10 new cities in the country in the next two years with over 100 properties. They are in 40 cities today, expected to be in 50 cities or more by 2025. The company plans to open 250 hotels in India by 2025, including those already open and those in the pipeline. Marriott currently operates 140 hotels in India.

MS Kainaat announced the signing of a franchise agreement with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to develop a new hotel in the key city of Dhanbad in Kharkhand in India under the Ramada Encore by Wyndham brand. MS Kainaat is the hospitality arm of Model Fuels Pvt Ltd, a company that has multiple business interests. Ramada Encore by Wyndham Dhanbad will be located in the heart of the city. It is expected to open in Q2 2026 with 90 rooms, a restaurant and a space for meetings, conferences and events.

Radisson Hotel Group announced the debut of its luxury lifestyle brand, Radisson Collection, in India with the signing of the first hotel in Hyderabad. The 300-room hotel is located close to the city’s financial district, which houses business centers, IT Parks and Special Economic Zones. The hotel will be operational by Q2, 2026. Radisson Collection Hotel, Hyderabad Financial District, will feature 300 rooms and suites, including standard rooms, executive suites, deluxe suites and presidential suites. An all-day dining restaurant, specialty F&B outlets, a tea lounge, rooftop bar, swimming pool, health club, full service spa and over 12,500 square feet of banquet space and a business club spread across nearly 7,000 square feet will round out the amenities.

IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Holiday Inn brand welcomed a new property to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. IHG, in a partnership with the Saudi Tourism Development Company, announced the addition of Holiday Inn & Suites Al-Khobar. The hotel has 295 rooms and suites, positioned to explore Saudi’s Eastern province, just a few minutes from the Al-Khobar waterfront as well as two malls of the city, Al-Rashid Mall and Dhahran Mall. The hotel features a range of dining options including three international restaurants. Business travelers will have access to state-of-the-art MICE facilities including 11 meeting rooms, spread over 1,600 square meters. Rounding out the amenities are a spa, health club, swimming pool and more recreational facilities.
