CoStar said the Asia Pacific construction pipeline showed year-over-year increases. In Construction rooms are up 4.4% as of the end of June, year over year, to 503,770 rooms. Rooms in Final Planning fell -22.9% to 91,282 but rooms in Planning are up 16.5% to 323,931. Total rooms Under Contract rose 4.5% at the end of June to 918,983 from a year ago. CoStar said China leads the Asia Pacific region in total rooms In Construction with 319,012 with Vietnam a distant second with 36,521.
Macau’s Statistics and Census Service said June visitation rose 15.5% year on year to 2,551,318. That was down -5% from May while the average visitors of 85,000 per day were at 82.4% of June 2019. Visitors from mainland China were up 14.4% year on year to 1,652,490. The Philippines had become the top international market, up 90.2% year on year in June to 48,008 visitors followed by Korea, up 113.4% to 30,848. Overall visitor arrivals for the first half of 2024 totaled 16,719,983, up 43.6%. That is 82.4% of the number of visitors in the first half of 2019.
Abu Dhabi-based real estate firm Eagle Hills recently agreed to help Indonesia’s tourism ecosystem. The deal is worth up to $3 billion and the scope of work encompasses the development and renovations of state-owned hotels, airport as well as the tourist destination ecosystem. This includes helping the state-run hotels to meet international standards. The MoU will be valid for a year with the possibility of an extension if both parties agree. Indonesia is hoping to attract 17 million foreign tourists throughout 2024. January to May had about 5.2 million international travelers so they are well behind what their goal is for the full year.
Minor Hotels announced the official signing of a Tivoli and NH dual-branded property in Yining, Xinjiang. This marks the debut of the luxury Tivoli Hotels & Resorts and upscale NH Hotels & Resorts brands in Northwest China. The property is expected to open in 2026. The project will cover 1.6 million square meters, located near local tourist attractions and the central business district. Each of the hotels will have 200 guest rooms. The project will include a commercial zone, a cultural performance center and residential areas. The commercial area will be inspired by the ancient Silk Road design and will aim to create an exotic shopping and leisure venue.
The Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at Hangzhou Centre is now accepting reservations for arrivals beginning this October. The urban hotel is centrally located on the end of Wulin Square, a shopping and entertainment district, housed within the new Hangzhou Centre. The mixed-use development includes the new Four Seasons, residences, offices, shopping and dining in two towers. The new Four Seasons is right across the street from one of the Grand Canal’s water bus stations. The Four Seasons hotel has 188 guest rooms and 26 suites that are located on Floors 19-29 with the corner suites said to be the best. There is an 18th floor spa, a gym, and 25 x 8 meter indoor heated swimming pool for sky swimming. The hotel also features several landscaped outdoor terraces on the 8th, 10th and 30th floors for dining and special events. Four unique dining and drinking concepts will be unveiled, including Song, Charm, the Lounge and Stars. MICE and social events can take place in the hotel’s 2,900 square meters of indoor event space and the Hotel’s Sky Garden with outdoor lawn and activity platform.
Robinsons Hotels & Resorts said they signed a 10 year management agreement with Hira Holdings Incorporated for the management of an upcoming eco-friendly villa resort in Siargao in the Philippines. The total land area of the resort will be 2,856 square meters. Hira Holdings is venturing into the hotel development business after being the first franchisee of the country’s leading quick-service restaurant, Jollibee. Robinsons Hotels has 30 hotels strategically located nationwide under five local hotel brands, Go Hotels, Go Hotels Plus and Resorts, Grand Summit Hotels and Fili Hotel.
Alliance Global Corp said they will allocate capital expenditure of Php75 billion (US$1.29 billion) this year as part of its commitment to sustain growth, including US$172 million to be spent by its gaming and leisure arm Travellers International Hotel Group Inc, the operating entity of Newport World Resorts, located alongside Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The money will mostly be spent to upgrade premium accommodation facilities at Newport World Resorts. They are currently refurbishing the Newport Mansion, a new hospitality haven that will feature all-suite rooms, garden villas and bay suites. The remainder for the Travellers allocation will be for the development of the commercial area in its Westside City project, including the construction of the Grand Opera House, theaters and cinemas.
SAMHI Hotels signed management agreements with Marriott International to rebrand two of its properties. The Indian hotel ownership and asset management platform said the properties were purchased as part of the ACIC Portfolio, which included 962 rooms and additional land development in Navi Mumbai. The rebranding initiative will transform a 217-room hotel in Pune into a Courtyard by Marriott, with renovations expected to be finalized by the end of the fiscal year 2026. The move is aimed at repositioning the hotel within the Pune market. It will be the second Courtyard by Marriott owned by SAMHI Hotels in Bengaluru. A 114-room hotel in Jaipur is set to become a Tribute Portfolio hotel, also under the Marriott umbrella, following a renovation slated to be complete by the end of FY 2026. SAMHI has also transitioned four other ACIC hotels from franchise to management agreements with Marriott. SAMHI said they currently have three global hotel operators comprising Marriott, IHG and Hyatt. They have 31 operating hotels consisting of 4,801 keys across 13 cities across India. They are also developing two more hotels, adding 461 keys to its inventory in Kolkata and Navi Mumbai.
Radisson Hotel Group announced the opening of Grand Mirage Dhanbad, a member of Radisson Individuals. Dhanbad holds significant potential as an emerging hospitality market. The hotel is located 10 minutes from Dhanbad Junction. The hotel is said to have premium on-site amenities including a state-of-the-art fitness center, various dining options, meeting and event spaces and more. The hotel is owned by Gharonda Properties Pvt Ltd.
