Hyatt Opens Its First Urban Alila Resort in China

Hyatt has launched Alila Shanghai in the Jing'an area, marking the first Urban Alila Resort-style hotel in Greater China, featuring 186 rooms, luxury amenities, and exclusive access to Zhangyuan.

STR reported China hotel data for the week ended September 21. Hotel RevPAR in China was down -15.8% year over year during the week. It was up against a tough +46.7% comp result in 2023. STR said this past week's hotel occupancy was down -13.7% year over year while ADR fell by -2.4%.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced an affiliate entered into a management agreement with SingHaiyi for Hyatt Regency Samarafushi Maldives. The hotel is slated to open in late 2027 in the North Male Atoll. This will be the third Hyatt property in the Republic of the Maldives and will be SingHaiyi Hospitality's second property there. The resort will feature 130 beachfront, treetop and overwater villas, all with a private pool. The resort will be nestled across 24 acres of land, located 25 minutes from Valena International Airport in Male by speedboat. F&B options will include an all-day dining concept, sunset bar, beach club, and a Japanese specialty restaurant. There will be a signature Regency Club Lounge as well as a kids' club, marine and diving center, fitness pavilion, yoga deck and a spa.

Hyatt also announced the opening of Alila Shanghai, located in the lively Jing'an area, the first Urban Alila Resort-style hotel in Greater China. The property overlooks and provides exclusive private access to Zhangyuan, a complex of restored shikumen stone-gate townhouses that have been transformed into luxury retail spaces. Alila Shanghai has 186 guest rooms, including 94 suites. Entry-level rooms measure 419 square feet while the Penthouse King Suite is located on the 37th floor and measures 2,626 square feet. The lobby floor is on level 4, there are four innovative bars and restaurants, including Secret Roof for cocktails, coffee and light snacks. The meeting space measures 3,282 square feet.

Yong Tai Bhd has asked Bursa Malaysia Securities for another six months to file its proposals for the disposal of Courtyard by Marriott Melaka and a private placement for new shares in the company. This follows a suit filed by Kerjaya Prospek Bhd against its unit. Yong Tai had announced in July they were disposing of the hotel for RM160 million. The company is now asking for an extension up to March 29, 2025, to submit the draft circular in relation to the proposals to the relevant regulatory authorities. The original date was on or before September 30, 2024. Construction firm Kerjaya Prospek's unit sued Yong Tai unit Apple 99 Development Sdn Bhd last month over an alleged failure to pay an outstanding contract sum of RM105.14 million in relation to a project which included the Courtyard hotel.

La Vie Hotels & Resorts' first hotel in LaosRadisson RED Vientiane, has been topped off and is on track to open in the first quarter of 2025. The hotel is being developed in partnership with owners TK Group Co., Ltd and the Radisson Hotel Group and will be the first Radisson RED branded hotel in the country. The new hotel opening will be part of a Master Collaboration Agreement between La Vie and Radisson to drive expansion in markets including AustraliaNew ZealandVietnamThailandSingaporeCambodiaMyanmarMalaysiaIndonesiaSri LankaMaldivesBangladeshFiji and Vanuatu. The Radisson RED Vientiane will be a new-build, upscale lifestyle hotel offering 145 rooms and suites, swimming pool, pool bar, restaurant and fitness center. The hotel's function space will include ballrooms and meeting rooms, establishing it as one of Ventiane's leading venues for business events and functions. Vientiane's Wattay International Airport is a 15 minute drive from the location of the Radisson RED hotel development.

Dusit International signed a strategic partnership agreement with Paljor Global Corp Private Limited, a Nepalese investment firm and luxury carpet manufacturer, to seek opportunities to introduce Dusit's diverse offerings in Nepal and throughout South Asia. The two already collaborate on the Paljor owned Dusit Princess Kathmandu. Paljor said they will leverage its network to find opportunities for Dusit's established brand lineup, actively seeking hotel projects in countries such as Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, TibetBhutan and northeast India where Dusit either has yet to establish a presence or is in the early stages of expansion.

Villa Le Corail, a Gran Melia Hotel, is the first resort in Southeast Asia under Gran Melia Hotels & Resorts brand from Melia Hotels International. The hotel opened in 2023 as Gran Melia Nha Trang but has been renamed and with it, Melia Hotels has unveiled the exclusive Gran Ocean Villa Collection. The new Gran Ocean Villas are the crown jewel of the resort, spanning 600 square meters. The oceanfront villas include soaring ceilings and opulent interiors. There also is the Feroce Villa, fully furnished by Roberto Cavalli and the Vitesse Villa, featuring carefully selected furniture that pays homage to the creative arts. All the Gran Ocean Villas are up to four bedrooms with personalized service with dedicated butlers, private dining opportunities, in-villa wellness treatments and more.

TFE Hotels has partnered with New Zealand's accommodation provider, Heritage Hotels, in a multi-property agreement that will see five hotels refurbished in the net few years. Heritage Hotels will retain ownership of its portfolio in New Zealand. TFE Hotels will manage more than 500 rooms across five properties, including the Adina Citylife Auckland and Rendezvous Heritage Auckland. In Wellington, the Adina CityLife Wellington will give TFE an apartment-style accommodation offering in the capital while in the south, the Rendezvous Heritage Hotel will re-establish a brand presence in Christchurch. The 175-room Rendezvous Heritage Queenstownrounds out the offering.

India's eco-friendly hospitality operator, The Fern Hotels & Resorts, announced The Fern Residency, Pune. This will be their fifth property in the city, positioned strategically in the heart of Pune. The Fern Residency, Pune offers 87 rooms, a contemporary restaurant, spacious banquet hall, located at the strategic Sadhu Vaswani Circle.
