Wyndham Continues to Expand Across Asia Pacific

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts expanded rapidly in Asia Pacific in 2024, adding 220 new hotels and signing 286 contracts, with 9% net room growth.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts said they were awarded 286 contracts in Asia Pacific in 2024, opened 220 new hotels and registered 9% year over year net room growth, equivalent to 19,000 rooms. As of the end of 2024, Wyndham had over 1,870 open hotels across Asia Pacific. In China alone they signed over 250 hotels last year. Overall, the number of contracts across Asia Pacific rose nearly 30% compared to 2023.

Hyatt Hotels announced the opening of Hyatt Place Shaoxing Keqiao, the first Hyatt Place hotel in Shaoxing, Zhejiang. The hotel includes 167 guestrooms, buffet breakfast, The Market, The Bar, Necessities, a fitness center and a total of 1,640 square feet of meeting and function space as well as an outdoor courtyard.

Raffles Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of Raffles Sentosa Singapore, the country’s first all-villa resort. Set within 100,000 square meters of lush tropical greenery on Sentosa Island, the resort was created in collaboration with the Royal Group. The resort is located just a 15-minute drive from the city’s Central Business District, perched on a hilltop on Sentosa Island, Asia’s first Global Sustainable Tourism Council – certified island destination. Raffles Sentosa Singapore features 62 villas, each with a private pool and outdoor terrace. The villas range from a one bedroom 211 square meter villa to a four-bedroom, 650 square meter Royal Villa. Guests will enjoy the Raffles Butler service. As for amenities, the resort features five restaurants and lounges with guests able to order the Sentosa Sling, the resort’s version of the brand’s legendary Singapore Sling drink. The resort includes ballrooms for weddings and events, the Raffles Sentosa Spa and access to an expansive fitness center, Tanjong Beach and the nearby Sentosa Golf Club.

The Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree will open its doors in a few weeks. The 4.6 hectare facility is located within Mandai Wildlife Reserve and is the chain’s first Singapore resort. The property will open on April 2 with 338 guest rooms and suites including 24 tree houses. Each tree house will come with its own private patio. Planter’s Shed is an all-day dining restaurant and Forage offers meals made using daily sourced ingredients including produce from the resort’s rooftop edible garden. There is a Banyan Tree Spa, rooftop pool and children’s play area called Rangers’ Club. Events can be held at the resort’s 300 seat Meranti Ballroom with adjacent Bridal Room.

Accor’s Pullman Hotels & Resorts unveiled Pullman Hai Phong Grand Hotel, the brand’s latest flagship hotel in Northern Vietnam, located in the commercial and cultural heart of Hai Phong, overlooking the Cam River and Hoang Dieu Harbour. The hotel features 364 rooms and suites from superior rooms to one-bedroom apartments designed for extended stays. Amenities include the Up & Above Rooftop Bar, Mad Cow Wine & Grill, Red Flowers Pavilion, Food Connexion and The Junction for food and beverage offerings. The pillarless Grand Ballroom offers more than 1,200 square meters, one of the largest five-star hotel ballrooms in Northern Vietnam. Power Fitness and the Pullman Spa complement the outdoor lap pool and dedicated kids’ swimming pool, complete with a pool bar.

Hotel Properties Limited announced the expansion of its luxury hospitality portfolio with the proposed acquisition of InterContinental Auckland. The acquisition is valued at $138.5 million and is subject to final completion. It would give HPL its first asset in New Zealand and second InterContinental property after InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort and further HPL’s expansion in the Asia Pacific region. The company has hotels, resorts and shopping galleries in 17 countries with interests in 41 hotels under many international brands. The InterContinental Auckland has 139 keys with 2.5 floors with office space. The hotel could be expanded to 196 rooms by repurposing the office space if needed. The property is next to Commercial Bay with the acquisition being undertaken by HPL’s wholly owned unit Maxford Investments through a sale and purchase agreement with Precinct Properties Investments Limited and will be funded by a third-party loan financing and internal resources.

I.P. Constructions Pvt. Ltd announced a partnership with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to launch the Ramada by Wyndham hotel in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The Ramada by Wyndham Ghaziabad Vasundhara will be a conversion hotel offering 160 keys with a range of amenities including all-day dining, a bar lounge, banquet facilities and a swimming pool. The property also will provide a gym, meeting spaces and other modern conveniences. The hotel is undergoing renovation and expansion and is expected to open sometime this year. The hotel is located in the heat of the Delhi-National Capital Region, situated between Noida’s IT hub and the Sahibabad Industrial Zone just 9 km from Hindon Airport and 30 km from Indira Gandhi International Airport. This is Wyndham’s third hotel signing in Delhi-NCR under the Ramada by Wyndham brand and fourth in the region overall.

Holiday Inn & Suites Penang Prai celebrated its soft opening on March 3, 2025, becoming Malaysia’s first Holiday Inn & Suites property. The hotel features 332 guest rooms and suites, catering to both business and leisure travelers. Facilities include an all-day dining venue, lobby lounge, an outdoor pool, fitness center and a yoga space. The hotel also offers over 2,066 square meters of function spaces, including a grand pillarless ballroom with drive in vehicle access. The hotel is located near the Prai Industrial Zone. A grand opening is planned for the second quarter of this year.

The Runaway Bay Motor Inn, the largest motel on the Gold Coast in Australia, has been sold to the Mangu family. The sale process was handled by CBRE. The 41-room motel offers a resort-style swimming pool, restaurant and bar, function area, one bedroom manager’s residence, guest laundry facilities and expansive grounds. The Mangu family also owns the Tweed Central Motel in Tweed Heads. They plan to focus on operational improvements for the newly acquired property.
