The Singapore Tourism Board said Q1 25 resulted in 4.31 million visitors. China visitation totaled 831,470, up 5.8% year-on-year, but visits from Indonesia and Malaysia were down 3.7% and 0.5% respectively. It should be noted that China visitation rose to 86.6% of 2019 levels. While visitation for Q1 was steady/flat year-over-year, the timing of events and tougher comps had March down 11.5% year-over-year to 1.3 million. The number of overnight visitors fell by 17.1% to 932,530 in March.
The China Hospitality Association said China’s chain hotel market saw the number of chain hotel rooms rise in 2024, year-on-year. The number of chain hotel rooms in China rose by 316,100 in 2024, up 4.68%. By the end of the year, China had approximately 93,300 chain hotels, with a total of nearly 7.07 million rooms.
