CoStar’s latest data shows that a number of Australian hotel markets saw significant jumps in performance during the British and Irish Lions Tour, including Brisbane, posting record highs in average daily rate and RevPAR. Six Australian cities hosted matches over June, July, and August. Canberra had the highest occupancy for a single night at 95.9% on July 9th. Year-over-year, the market’s ADR and RevPAR for that night were up 10.3% and 12.8% respectively. Brisbane’s ADR and RevPAR peaked on July 19th, the night of the Wallabies match, at A$504.91 and A$447.30 respectively, with year-over-year growth of 109.3% and 125.7%, respectively. Adelaide and Sydney saw their highest matchday occupancy levels at 94.8% on July 12 and 92.9% on August 2. Melbourne’s hotel occupancy peaked at 91.4% on July 26th, the second match between the Wallabies and Lions.
