Lemon Tree Hotels' shares went on a roller coaster ride, jumping 4% on Wednesday on reports that private equity firm Warburg Pincus is on the way to acquiring a meaningful stake in the company. Plus, other hotel deal news.
STR reported China hotel data for the week ended January 3, 2026. China hotel RevPAR was up 23%, up against a decline of -1.1% last year, but also an easy boost because this year the New Year's holiday was officially three days. ADR was up 11.7% year over year while occupancy jumped 10.1%.
Lemon Tree Hotels' shares went on a roller coaster ride, jumping 4% on Wednesday on reports that private equity firm Warburg Pincus is on the way to acquiring a meaningful stake in the company. The stock then dropped when Lemon Tree denied reports of a potential stake acquisition by Warburg Pincus. CNBC had reported that the private equity firm was to acquire APG Strategic RE Pool's existing stake in Lemon Tree. Then there was to be a second tranche involving a preferential allotment by Lemon Tree Hotels directly to Warburg Pincus. APG Strategic holds a 14.99% stake in Lemon Tree. The speculation was that after both of these things occurred, Warburg would likely do an open offe
