STR/CoStar reported China hotel data for the week ended March 21st. Hotel RevPAR in China was down 0.9% year-over-year. The week’s RevPAR was up against a decline of 5.5% in the 2025 week. While ADR was up 3.2% for the 2026 week, it was offset by a decline of 4% for occupancy.
Macau’s 4.17 million visitors in February represented the second-highest-ever number of monthly arrivals. CreditSights said it did not translate into record gambling revenue because gross gaming revenue per visitor fell by 20% year-on-year. A larger portion of the visitors traveling to Macau over the Chinese New Year holiday period were likely non-gambling tourists and families. CreditSights blamed the city’s lack of sufficient hotel room supply as one of the main reasons for this.
Meanwhile, even with supposedly fewer hotel rooms than they need, the average nightly rate for a five-star hotel room in Macau fell to MOP1,560 in February, down 2.4% year-on-ye
