Marriott Re-imagines the W Hollywood

W Hollywood, reimagined by Marriott International, Trinity Investments, and Oaktree Capital, now offers redesigned amenities including 319 rooms, dining options, a rooftop venue, a revamped gym, and extensive event spaces.

The DJIA rose 40 points while Nasdaq was up 15, the S&P 500 was up a point and the 10 year treasury yield was up .04 to 3.79%. Lodging stocks were higher.

STR reported US lodging data for the week ended September 28. U.S. hotel RevPAR was up 10.2% with ADR up 7.5%. Group RevPAR surged 27.5%. The results were helped by the Yom Kippur holiday shift. New York City RevPAR was up over 70% thanks to the UN General Assembly.

W Hotels from Marriott InternationalTrinity Investments and funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. unveiled the newly re-imagined W Hollywood. The property features 319 guestrooms and suites, a triple-height signature Living Room, Living Room bar, and The Garden. W Hollywood will also open The Patio, a new, all-day dining option situated within The Garden. The property’s rooftop - WET Deck - now features two destination bars and a stunning rooftop venue. W Hollywood has redesigned its signature gym, FIT, relocating it to a prime destination just steps away form the Living Room and adjacent to The Garden. The Great Room is a deceptively simple and flexible 5,040 square foot event space featuring moveable bars, tables, and furniture for multiple configurations. The property also features 11 meeting rooms spanning 35,000 square feet on the same floor.

Driftwood Capital broke ground on the $420 million Westin Cocoa Beach Resort, Spa and Conference Center located in the coastal city of Cocoa Beach, Florida. The resort will be managed by Driftwood Hospitality Management once completed. The 502-key Westin Cocoa Beach Resort & Spa will feature 11 food and beverage venues, a spa, surfing wave pool, swimming pools, tennis and pickleball courts, fitness center, multiple retail options and a multi-story parking garage to accommodate about 800 vehicles. The resort will also offer 72,000 square feet of open-air venues for meetings and events, complemented by 51,500 square feet of indoor space for gatherings and conferences.

Azul Hospitality Group announced the Woodlark Hotel has officially joined its portfolio of hospitality assets. Located in the heart of Portland, Oregon, the Woodlark Hotel seamlessly integrates two historic Portland buildings: the Woodlark Building and the Cornelius Hotel. The 150-room hotel features 2,100 square feet of meeting space spanning three separate event rooms and three dining options. The Woodlark will join the Marriott Bonvoy platform this Fall.

Omni Hotels & Resorts broke ground and construction is well underway on Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita, the brand’s first luxury resort in Mexico. Set to open in late 2026, the beachfront resort will feature 244 guestrooms and suites and two 4-bedroom villas; three original restaurant concepts; a destination spa with 14 treatment rooms; two retail shops; multiple pools; indoor and outdoor fitness center; and a kids club. Boasting over 27,000 square feet of meeting and event space, the Omni Pontoque will feature a 6,000 square foot ballroom, an open-air pavilion, multiple event lawns and dedicated meeting rooms.

IHG Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of a new-build Holiday Inn Express & Suites hotel in Senatobia, Mississippi. The hotel features 87 guestrooms, more than 750 square feet of meeting space and an onsite business center. Holiday Inn Express & Suites Senatobia I-55 operates under the ownership of Jalaram Senatobia LLC.

Field & Stream Lodge Co. announced its first location in Bozeman, Montana, now accepting reservations for Winter 2025. Field & Stream Lodge Co. was created by Starwood Capital Group and Adventurous Journeys (AJ) Capital PartnersField & Stream Bozeman boasts 179 guestrooms, The Great Room with stone fireplace and communal seating, a supply shop, gym, an outdoor hot tub, an indoor pool, and 5,800 square feet of meeting and event space that can be divided. The Backyard is a 29,000 square foot courtyard complete with landscaping, picnic tables, canvas umbrellas, and vintage canoes that have been fashioned into fire pits. With plans to expand to other iconic outdoor destinations in the coming years, Field & Stream Bozeman serves as the brand’s flagship location, setting the standard for future lodges that will continue to uphold Field & Stream’s 153 years of outdoor experience and expertise.

In Kentucky, the Paducah City Commission approved an agreement between the city and National Hospitality, LLC for the construction of a new hotel along the river in downtown Paducah. Formerly the site of the nursing home ResCare, the proposed hotel design includes a four-story building with approximately 120 rooms, an indoor pool and dining options. Although the hotel brand has not been revealed, the agreement stipulates it must be a national brand hotel. The developer anticipates the project to cost $15 million. In exchange for the investment, the city would transfer the property to National Hospitality, LLC for $1. The agreement has a built-in reversal clause that states if the hotel agreement does not come to fruition, the city may regain ownership of the property.

Red Roof unveiled a blueprint for continued profitable growth at its brand conference. The Red Roof new-build prototype is designed as an 80-room, three- or four-story property with interior corridors that is scalable, with a modern and inviting lobby and a host of new amenities for guests. The new design has a lower cost to develop and will streamline workflow without sacrificing quality and service. This new prototype joins the recently updated new-build prototype for Red Roof’s extended-stay brand, HomeTowne Studios by Red Roof and dual-branded Red Roof and HomeTowne Studios hotels.

Highgate announced the appointments of two progressive marketing leaders to its regional task force team for the expanding portfolio of Highgate HawaiiRamona Sidlo will lead as Regional Director of Experiential Marketing and Jessica Mullenfeld as Regional Director of Marketing and Ecommerce. Ramona Sidlo will take the lead on Highgate Hotel Hawaii’s new experiential marketing department. With nearly two decades of domestic and international marketing experience, Ramona brings a fresh perspective to hotel marketing. Jessica Mullenfeld will lead the marketing and ecommerce team for Highgate Hawaii, providing corporate support to the region’s portfolio. Most recently, Jessica led the digital solutions and go-to-market operations for a direct-to-consumer brand.

The Americas

Las Torres Patagonia announced that Hotel Las Torres has reopened following a comprehensive renovation for the 2024-2025 season. Located in Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia, Chile, and owned by the Kusanovic family, the renovation included all 74 guestrooms and bathrooms. Over the next year, Las Torres Patagonia will continue to make updates to the property, extending the renovation to Coiron RestaurantPioneer Bar, and other public spaces around the property.

Europe Highlights

With a goal to position itself as a leading investment group in the hospitality industry, SC Capital Holding is systematically acquiring properties around Central Europe as part of an ambitious expansion strategy. The company emphasized that all purchased properties will be renovated to fulfill green construction requirements, integrate renewable energy solutions and reduce overall environmental impact. SC Capital Holding has its sights on acquiring hotel buildings in key Central European locations in order to increase its holdings. This region offers appealing investment options because of its growing tourism industry and rising need for business travel.

Hotel Co 51 brings Marriott International’s second Element-branded hotel to Europe. The new seven-story, 115-room Element by Westin Wroclaw hotel is the second hotel managed by Hotel Co 51 in Poland, and the operator’s fifth Marriott brand. Element by Westin Wroclaw offers a restaurant, flexible fitness area, meeting space, a dedicated laundry room and underground onsite parking including electric car charging. Element Wroclaw is the first hotel to open in the Wroclaw Business Garden, a modern, six-hectare office campus located to the east of the city center.

Tivoli Hotels & Resorts is expanding its footprint in Portugal with the upcoming debut of Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia Hotel, set to open in early 2025. The new hotel, currently under development, will offer 150 guestrooms including 10 suites, two restaurants, three bars, two pools, and a Tivoli fitness center. The property also boasts extensive event facilities featuring six meeting rooms and 97,000 square feet of landscaped gardens for special occasions. Additionally, the hotel will house a signature Tivoli Spa.

Cycas Hospitality announced its appointment to manage YOTEL London Shoreditch, bringing the company’s portfolio to nine hotels and over 1,000 rooms within the UK capital, and over 55 properties under management across Europe. The 161-room hotel is owned by a joint venture between Tite Street Capital and Crestline Investors.

Bespoke Hotels has purchased the Caledonian Hotel in Fort William, the Great Western Hotel in Oban, The Pitlochry Hydro Hotel and the Marine Hotel in Llandudno, all located in the UK. Christie & Co. handled the process.
