U.S. Winter Storms Hurt Hotel Performance

CoStar reported U.S. lodging data for the week ending 1/31, with RevPAR down 4%. Plus, more hotel deal and development news.
The DJIA was up 260 while the Nasdaq was down 351, the S&P 500 was down 35 points, and the 10-year treasury yield was flat at 4.28%. Despite the uncertain market indexes, lodging stocks had a really good day today, both REITs and C-Corps. CHH was up 6%, RLJ and VAC were both up 5%, but there were a lot of hotel names and REITs rising around 4% today.
STR reported U.S. lodging data for the week ending 1/31, with RevPAR down 4%. Occupancy was down 4.3%. Group RevPAR was down 2.9% as ADR saved the day with Group occupancy down 6.4%.
