As soon as oil prices reversed, so did stocks, going from one of the worst trading days since the conflict to gains across the board for the stock indexes by the close. The DJIA ended up 239, the Nasdaq was up 308, and the S&P 500 rose 56 points. Lodging stocks were still mostly in the red by the end of the day, but very much off their lows. INN was the biggest mover, down 8%, while BHR was down 7%.
Truist came out of the investor meetings they hosted with senior management of Marriott Vacations Worldwide even more bullish than they came in. Truist said it sees the potential for significant upside to the stock should management be able to execute and hit its 2028 adjusted EBITDA target of $950 million. On that alone, Truist sees a $100 stock price.
