Tokyo and Bangkok Tourism Numbers Are Rebounding
STR reported China hotel RevPAR for the week ended December 17. Hotel RevPAR was down -1.1% year over year for the week. Japan National Tourism Organization said visitor arrivals rose to close to one million in November. This was the first full month after the country ended their Covid-19 curbs. The Tourism Authority of Thailand is predicting the number of foreign tourists visiting Thailand will be more than 18 million last year. -

Allegiant Air Delays Opening of Florida Resort
The DJIA fell 94 points, Nasdaq was down 110, the S&P 500 fell 27 points and the 10-year treasury yield was up .01 to 3.89%. The parent of Allegiant Air said that damage from Hurricane Ian has caused the company to delay the planned opening of a resort north of Fort Myers, FL at Charlotte Harbor. Royal Investments LLC , the developer of a proposed Downtown hotel in Louisville, KY , is seeking a new tax increment financing district for the project. -

Peachtree Hospitality Adding 1,500 Rooms to Portfolio
The DJIA fell another 325 points on Monday, Nasdaq was up 0.1%, the S&P 500 fell 0.6% and the 10-year treasury yield rose to 3.88%. Peachtree Hospitality Development is on track to deliver a record year of development achievements. In 2022, PHD opened three select-service hotels, with another hotel slated to open later this year. The takeaways included that they saw leisure demand start to slow in May while group and corporate recovery is now benefiting from urban and convention hotels. JP Morgan reported on meetings held with Wyndham Hotels’ CEO and SVP, IR. JPM said the meetings were generally upbeat, reflective of strong demand and pricing trends as well as steady new development and conversion signings. -
