Travel + Leisure Co. has closed the acquisition of the vacation ownership business of Accor. The acquisition is expected to be immediately accretive to Travel + Leisure Co. earnings.

Marriott International said they signed 28 deals in South Asia in 2023 and so far in 2024, adding over 4,500 rooms to its development pipeline.

Accor will open 100 luxury and lifestyle hotels by 2025, with plans to sign at least 50 more projects per year.

Extended Stay America announced its growth outlook through franchising, following the momentum from a strong year of milestones, including 20% growth of its franchise portfolio across its family of brands.

Hilton announced LivSmart Studios by Hilton is the official name of its new studio apartment-style, extended-stay hotel brand. LivSmart Studios already has more that 350 deals in various stages of negotiation.

Choice Hotels International purchased more shares in Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in its unsolicited exchange offer to acquire the company. The Baird/STR Hotel Stock Index rose 9.3% in November, with the Hotel REIT sub-index up 7.6% year-to-date and the Hotel Brand sub-index up 30.6% year-over-year. BCD Travel forecasts a global decrease in airfares and a 6.8% increase in hotel rates in 2024.

Truist remains optimistic about US hotel demand and RevPAR, favoring C-Corp stocks like HLT, MAR, and H, and recommending Hyatt and Ryman Hospitality among REITs. Hilton is expanding in Baja California, Mexico with Tapestry Collection hotels. Ashford Hospitality Trust faces lawsuits over loan defaults. Short of taking out a billboard or skywriting, we have no idea how much more  Wyndham Hotels & Resorts  can do to tell  Choice Hotels to go away on its bid. With the Fed expected to be done with its interest rate hike cycle, we expect the attention will turn to the Lodging REITs shortly. Marriott International’s Aloft Hotels  said  Aloft Lake Nona  announced its December opening in the Lake Nona community of Orlando, Florida.

Top U.S. hotel construction markets in Q3 2023: Dallas, Atlanta, Nashville, Phoenix, and the Inland Empire lead in the number of projects and rooms. Hotel renovation and conversion pipeline activity remains strong with 1,912 hotels and 285,568 rooms currently undergoing renovations. Notable openings and developments include the Candlewood Extended Stay Suites in Kennesaw, Avenue Hotels & Residences in Coral Gables, Hotel Lucine in Galveston, and Radisson RED Helsinki.

Corporate travel data company TRIPBAM reports a 25% increase in booking volumes for US travel in mid-September compared to 2022, with expectations of a return to pre-Covid levels by the end of the quarter and surpassing them in 2024, albeit slower in tech-heavy San Francisco.
