Japan’s Inbound Tourism Surges Thanks to Gulf Countries

China hotel RevPAR increased by 27.9% year over year and by 13.7% when compared to 2019. Japan experienced a resurgence in inbound tourism, with GCC countries leading the way, and June 2023 saw 72% of the visitor numbers compared to June 2019. Several hotels, including W Sydney , W Macao Studio City , and The Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel , have announced openings and renovations to cater to the recovering travel demand. Additionally, CapitaLand Ascott Trust signed a Memorandum of Understanding for acquiring lodging assets in the UK, Ireland, and Indonesia.

New Marriott and Pan Pacific Properties in Singapore

Marriott International partners with Hiap Hoe Limited to bring the Aloft Hotels brand to Singapore, opening the largest Aloft branded hotel in the world with 785 rooms in Zhongshan Park. Pan Pacific Hotels Group unveils its flagship hotel, Pan Pacific Orchard, Singapore, featuring terraced greenery and a unique Atelier-in-Residence program, along with three dining concepts and a gin distillery. Gran Melia Nha Trang in Vietnam is set to open as an all-villa property with private pool villas, Asia’s first outpost of the Spanish restaurant Hispania, and a range of wellness offerings.

Amen Receives $900m Investment to Expand

Sterling Holiday Resorts , a subsidiary of Thomas Cook , said they will double its pan-India inventory to 5,000 rooms in the next three years. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and Cain International have invested $900 million in Aman Group to help accelerate the global expansion of the company. The City of Dreams Manila integrated resort welcomed Singapore’s famous restaurant brand TungLok Signatures to Manila, Philippines.
