Marriott International said its transformation of the Sheraton Hotels & Resorts brand continues to build momentum across the globe. TFE Hotels will launch into 2023, opening three new-build hotels in the first half. The Adina Apartment Hotel Pentridge Melbourne will open in Australia in February. -

Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation announced an increase in its quarterly dividend. U.S. Group Bookings Increase While Biz Travel Lags

Global Hotel Groups Are Sitting on Piles of Cash
The DJIA rose 61 points, Nasdaq was up 50, the S&P 500 was up 12 points and the 10-year Treasury yield is quickly rising to where it peaked in June, up another .05 to 3.11%. STR said US RevPAR for the week ended 8/20 was up 16.9% versus the same week last year. Global hotel groups are holding near-record amounts of cash. Seven of the best-known hotel groups were collectively sitting on about $7.3 billion in cash and short-term investments as of the end of June . -

Latest APAC Hotel Construction Pipeline Data
STR said China RevPAR for the week ended August 13 was up 107.7% year over, up against a -28.9% comparison. According to the recent Asia Pacific, excluding China, Hotel Construction Pipeline Trend Report from Lodging Econometrics , at the end of the second quarter the region’s total construction pipeline grew to 1,891 projects/396,517. Trip.com said that off-season travel between July to September for both Australia and Southeast Asian countries showed an increase as borders reopen. -
