STR reported China hotel RevPAR for the week ended December 3. RevPAR was down -2.6% on a year-over-year basis while down -40.2% against the same week in 2019. More reports are coming out about China’s decision to roll back Covid-Zero rules . The latest STR report, commissioned by Arabian Travel Market, conducted at the end of September 2022, suggests the GCC region now has over 170,000 hotel rooms under active development.

STR reported China hotel RevPAR for the week ended November 26 was up 2.2% year over year. Macau hotels’ had average occupancy in October of 41.8%, up 4.2 percentage points from September. CoStar published an article on Swire Hotels and its plans to expand The House Collective to destinations like Tokyo and Shenzhen Bay in China. Pullman Orchard is expected to open its doors within the next month, located in the heart of Orchard Road in Singapore . Banyan Tree Group said they continue to expand one of their latest brand concepts, Homm, with two new properties.

Pan Pacific Hotels Group announced it will double its serviced suites portfolio in 2023. Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group announced it will manage a new resort with branded residences in Phu Yen province, one of Vietnam’s coastal regions. InterContinental Khao Yai Resort in Thailand has unveiled 19 Suites and Villas, housed within repurposed heritage railcars marking the final phase of its opening journey.

STR reported China hotel RevPAR for the week ended 11/19. RevPAR was up 9.8% year over year in China while down -37.6% versus the same week in 2019. CapitaLand’s Ascott Limited unveiled its refreshed Somerset brand. This is the second largest brand in Ascott’s Global Portfolio. Crisil Ratings said the Indian hotel industry is likely to witness 23% growth in revenue this fiscal over the pre-pandemic level, driven by a strong recovery in business travel and continued traction in leisure travel.

The number of foreign visitors to Japan rose to nearly 500,000 in October, the first month it fully reopened to overseas visitors after more than two years of being closed due to Covid restrictions. Visitor arrivals to Macau in October totaled 580,333, up just 4% from September despite October being a month with a Golden Week. Radisson Hotel Group is planning to grow its portfolio in India from 140 hotels to 200 in FY24.
