Sonder Holdings announces a 1 for 20 reverse split to maintain its Nasdaq listing, with Selina also considering a reverse split. STR reports US hotel data with a slight increase in US hotel RevPAR but a decrease in Group RevPAR for the week ending 9/16. Various hotel acquisitions and developments are underway, including Omni Hotels & Resorts in Raleigh, Travel + Leisure Co.'s sports-themed resorts, Life House in Palm Springs, and more.

Truist  reported on its visit to  San Francisco  for the Visit Impact Summit. The good news is that the fall 2023 events are showing improvement. Marriott International  announced the completion of a recent redesign and renovation to the 146-room  Courtyard by Marriott Denver Central Park  in Denver, Colorado . Airbnb  stock received a big lift with the announcement of its  inclusion in the S&P 500 .

DJIA fell 169 points in August; Nasdaq rose 16; S&P 500 down 7. Travel intent increases: 21.8% plan foreign trips, 45.9% plan vacations. Hotel developments: New AC Hotel in Lansing, Sheraton San Diego rebranded as Sheraton Resort & Marina, TRS Coral Hotel added to Wyndham's Registry Collection. Upcoming: Highgate manages Hilton Garden Inn Kauai, IHG's Atwell Suites in Henderson and Fort Worth, proposed dual-tower project near Austin Convention Center.

Stock market performance: DJIA was up 86 points, Nasdaq up 158 points, and S&P 500 rose 33 points, while lodging stocks mostly declined. Wells Fargo raised target prices on lodging stocks, including RHP, APLE, HST , and DHR , maintaining their ratings. Various hotels underwent renovations, including Courtyard Louisville Airport and Chancellor's House Hotel , while new hotels were announced, such as the Hampton Inn & Suites in Pittsburgh and Riversuites in Philadelphia.

Soho House reported mostly in-line estimates. Adjusted EBITDA was in line despite revenue being slightly lower than expectations. Morgan Stanley upped their target price on Hyatt to $142 from $139 while maintaining their Overweight rating. Marriott International announced a 30% increase in their quarterly dividend, to $0.52 a share.

Let’s go backwards to give you an overview of today’s market. The 10-year treasury yield plunged 0.32 to 3.83%. That is a nearly 8% drop in the yield on a modestly better CPI report. Vacasa reported 3Q results that went over as well with investors as their weak fourth quarter guidance. The LWHA Q3 2022 Major U.S. Hotel Sales Survey includes 119 single asset sale transactions over $10 million which totaled roughly $3.7 billion.

Lodging stocks had a good day, with Selina’s first day of trading leading the way, surging to a close of $40.90. Hersha Hospitality , Accor and Travel + Leisure reported results with TNL getting the worst reviews . Selina and BOA announced the closing of their business combination which was approved by BOA stockholders on October 21, 2022.

The  DJIA  fell 94 points,  Nasdaq  was down 110, the  S&P 500  fell 27 points and the  10-year treasury yield  was up .01 to 3.89%. The parent of  Allegiant Air  said that damage from Hurricane Ian has caused the company to delay the planned opening of a resort north of Fort Myers, FL at Charlotte Harbor. Royal Investments LLC , the developer of a proposed Downtown hotel in  Louisville, KY , is seeking a new tax increment financing district for the project.
