Standard International Expands Its International Ambitions
Either investors did not like Membership Collective Group’s earnings report, their management changes or both but the stock got crushed today, down -19%. STR reported US lodging data for the week ended 11/12. US RevPAR was up 19.4%, year over year. The Development Review Committee for Pompano Beach, Florida , is considering the site plan for a 1.1-acre property for which MHG Hotels proposed a Homewood Suites by Hilton hotel. -

Choice Hotels Receives Mixed Response to Earnings
Lodging stocks were mixed. Choice (CHH) was the big loser, down -9%, while MCG was down -7% and AINC fell -6%. Choice Hotels received a mixed response to their 3Q earnings report from analysts and a big thumbs down from investors. Hilton announced the opening of its two-hundredth hotel in the Caribbean and Latin America, Waldorf Astoria Cancun , a 173-room luxury resort set on 100 acres of coastline. -

Selina Plunges on Second Trading Day
Pebblebrook Hotel Trust reported sold 3Q22 earnings, but since they give monthly updates and pre-announced, there was no surprise. While lodging stocks were higher, the action in Selina on Friday was just as ridiculous as on Thursday but in the other direction. While Travel + Leisure’s stock price rebounded a little bit after Thursday’s earnings-induced decline, Credit Suisse lowered the boom on them. -

Lodging stocks were mixed. AINC was up 5% while the biggest mover was to the downside with VCSA falling -14%. Morgan Stanley lowered their price target on Airbnb to $105 from $125. MS maintained their Equal Weight rating. Xenia Hotels & Resorts sold the 115-room Celebration Hotel to Vision Hospitality Group . -

U.S. Leisure Travel Expected to End 2022 14% Higher Than 2019 Levels
The DJIA fell 100 points, Nasdaq was down 92, the S&P 500 was down 25 and the reason for the punch bowl being taken away from the recent rally was the 10 year treasury yield spiking. STR said US RevPAR was up 26.7% year over year for the week ending 10/15. A new analysis projects U.S. hotel leisure travel revenue to be 14% higher by the end of this year than it was in 2019. -

In a very wild session with a 1500-point swing, the DJIA ended the day up 827 points while Nasdaq was up 249, the S&P 500 rose 98, the 10-year treasury yield was up .05 to 3.95% and lodging stocks were higher. Allegiant Air Delays Opening of Florida Resort
The DJIA fell 94 points, Nasdaq was down 110, the S&P 500 fell 27 points and the 10-year treasury yield was up .01 to 3.89%. The parent of Allegiant Air said that damage from Hurricane Ian has caused the company to delay the planned opening of a resort north of Fort Myers, FL at Charlotte Harbor. Royal Investments LLC , the developer of a proposed Downtown hotel in Louisville, KY , is seeking a new tax increment financing district for the project. -

The DJIA fell 347 points while Nasdaq was down 75, the S&P 500 fell 39 points and the 10-year treasury yield was up .07 to 3.83% STR said US hotel RevPAR the week ending 10/1 was up 22.6% year over year , helped by Hurricane Ian and the holiday shift. According to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer , international tourist arrivals almost tripled from January to July 2022 (+172%) compared to the same period in 2021 -

Airbnb Given an Outperform Rating
Bernstein initiated coverage on Airbnb with an Outperform rating and $143 price target. B of A Securities cut their rating on Membership Collective to Underperform from Buy. They lowered their price target to $4 from $12. Service Properties Trust announced it amended the agreement governing its revolving credit facility and exercised its option to extend its maturity date to July 2023. -

Hurricane Ian’s Impact on Florida Hotels
The DJIA surged 765 points while Nasdaq was up 234, the S&P 500 rose 90 points and the 10 year treasury yield was down .15 to 3.66%. Raymond James reported on hotels impacted by Hurricane Ian ’s decimation of southwest Florida. While Tampa Bay dodged the bullet, Sarasota all the way down took a hit led by Naples, Fort Myers, Sanibel, Captiva, Boca Grande, Venice and Punta Gorda.
