Thailand Gets Hotels by Melia and Accor

STR reported China hotel data for the week ended July 8. Hotel RevPAR in China was up 41.5% for the week, up against a very easy -13.9% year over year comparison. When compared with the same week in 2019, China Hotel RevPAR was up 8.8%.

InterContinental Shenzhen WECC opened its doors on July 1, 2023, located just 800 meters from the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center. The hotel, invested by Shenzhen Zhaohua International Exhibition Development Co. Ltd., combined the international luxury hospitality experience of IHG with the local expertise of the investors. The hotel features 359 guest rooms and suites, ranging from 50 to 280 square meters. The hotel includes Club InterContinental, an 11 meter tall reception hall in the lobby and 3,300 square meters of meeting space. Food and beverage options include Cai Feng Lou Chinese Restaurant, Char Bar & Grill and The Lounge 1872. An infinity indoor heated swimming pool, 600 square meter wedding lawn, and a 183 square meter fitness center rounds out the amenities.

The new Novotel Rayong Star Convention Centre is the newest hotel from Accor’s Novotel brand in Rayong, Thailand. Rayong is a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The hotel includes 234 rooms inspired by nature with elements reminiscent of rocks and waves. The hotel offers two dining options for guests, all day Food Exchange restaurant and the After 8 Bar & Lounge. The hotel’s pillarless conference and event venue can accommodate up to 1,200 guests. Other amenities include a swimming pool, fitness center, Kids Club and outdoor playground.

The 208-room, 34-story INNSiDE by Melia hotel opened on July 7. This is the first INNSiDE by Melia hotel to open in Thailand and the fourth Melia Hotels International property. The new On Nut hotel in Bangkok is located just a 30-minute ride from Suvarnabhumi Airport. The hotel has a vast co-working space on floor 32, offering a front seat to Bangkok’s sweeping skyline. There are five meeting rooms and multi-functional areas, three diverse food and beverage outlets and what they consider the hotel’s jewel in the crown, an awe-inspiring infinity pool coupled with The Giant Swing Pool Bar on floor. The Giant Swing is nestled between the bar and the pool. Adjacent to the infinity pool is an expansive rooftop terrace, dotted with outdoor lounges and sunbeds. At night the pool bar becomes an upper-floor extension of the hotel’s thirty-third floor LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar. As for the guest rooms, the hotel’s eight accommodation categories fall under two umbrellas – INNSiDE Room and The Townhouse. The INNSiDE Room King and INNSiDE Room Twin are each 20 square meters with the INNSiDE Connecting Room at 40sqm. The Townhouse and Townhouse City View are each 40sqm while The Townhouse Two Bedroom is 64sqm.

Minor Hotels announced the NH Collection brand’s debut in the Maldives with NH Collection Maldives Havodda Resort. The resort is slated to join the portfolio in August this year and will be NH Collection brand’s first property outside of an urban location. The resort will offer 120 luxury villas, 60 beach and 60 over-water, each with views of the Indian Ocean. Culinary options range from an all-day dining experience, beachside grill, poolside pizzas and a cocktail bar with light bites. There also is a dedicated Asian concept spa, fully equipped gym, swimming pool and pool bar, and a kids club. The resort is located in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll and will be the seventh property operated by Minor Hotels in the Maldives.

The 302-room Mondrian Singapore Duxton has opened its doors. The hotel, rising above Chinatown, is a stone’s throw from the Central Business District. The property includes a cinematic rooftop pool and eclectic collection of bars and restaurants. Duxton Hill is considered Singapore’s most and up and coming neighborhood featuring barista cafes, Michelin-starred eateries, bars, art galleries and independent boutiques.

The final piece of the Sky Deck at Queen’s Wharf has been lifted into place, 100 meters above the Brisbane River. The $3.6 billion Queen’s Wharf Brisbane, Australia development includes the 250 meter long crescent-shaped Sky Deck, offering views from the Brisbane CBD to Moreton Bay and Mount Coot-tha. The open air rooftop Sky Deck will be open all year round for up to 1,500 people with a signature restaurant, all day casual dining, a hero bar and sky-high events space. The Queen’s Wharf development will cover more than 12 hectares of CBD land. The area will feature about 50 new bars, cafes and restaurants, a casino, four hotels, luxury retailers, about 1,500 residential apartments, repurposed heritage buildings, green spaces and the Neville Bonner Bridge. The first stage of development is expected to open in April 2024.

Capital Alliance, a property developer in Melbourne, Australia announced the approval of a planning permit for its $340 million dual hotel project in partnership with TFE Hotels. The permit for the mixed-use lifestyle development in Melbourne’s Docklands precinct allows Capital Alliance to proceed with plans for a state of the art 1000-pax capacity conference center, one of the largest in Australia, as well as dual hotels featuring Australia’s largest rooftop infinity pool. The $340 million project will feature the 200-room bespoke Collection by TFE Hotels brand and the premium 105-room A by Adina. The 200 key, yet to be named Collection hotel will join the ranks of other purpose-built Collection by TFE Hotels properties in developing personalized service and bespoke hospitality experiences. The A by Adina hotel will be the first of the brand to launch in Victoria following the opening of flagship hotels in Sydney and Canberra in 2021. This project is the fourth mixed-use hotel development for Capital Alliance.

Praveg Limited of India said they are coming up with a luxury 5-star hotel in Ahmedabad. The hotel will feature 76 rooms with city views and plus amenities like an infinity pool, open sky dining, meditation room, meeting and event space and more. Praveg said the new hotel will be the only pure vegetarian 5-star hotel in the city.

Choice Hotels Asia-Pac, together with Choice Hotels Japan, announced the launch of the first Ascend Hotel Collection hotel in Asia this month with the opening of a hotel Around Takayama in Takayama City, Japan. The hotel will have 152 rooms and will include a restaurant celebrating the best of local product, a store selling local products and a build-your-own travel guide wall featuring 100 of the best local attractions. Choice Hotels Japan is the hotel of Choice Hotel International’s master franchise agreements in Japan. They have more than 70 properties across the cities of Tokyo, Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Osaka and Fukuoka under the Comfort and Ascend brands.
