Wyndham Deal Expands its All-Inclusive Options

Wyndham Hotels and Decameron have formed an alliance to expand all-inclusive offerings with nine new resorts in Mexico, Panama, and Jamaica, with some joining the Trademark Collection and others joining the Ramada brand.

The DJIA rose 127 points, Nasdaq was up 123, the S&P 500 was up 25 points, and the 10-year treasury yield was down 0.04 to 4.45%. Lodging stocks were modestly higher, but the big moves were to the downside. VCSA fell -7% to a new low while SOND was down -6% on the day.

Truist Securities cut their price target on Playa Hotels & Resorts to $12 from $14. They lowered estimates due to the anticipated renovations the properties are undergoing but maintained their Buy rating.

B.Riley Securities cut their price target on Service Properties Trust to $9 from $10. They maintained their Buy rating.

Bernstein upped their price target on Hyatt Hotels to $190 from $184. Bernstein maintained their Outperform rating.

Goldman Sachs cut their price target on Vacasa to $8.50 from $9.50. They maintained their Neutral rating.

One of the oldest and largest hotels in El Paso, Texas is getting a multimillion-dollar remake. Renovation and refurbishment of the Marriott El Paso’s 296 rooms were completed in February, while renovation of its ballroom, restaurant, and other public spaces is expected to begin in early summer. The public spaces are expected to be done in time for the December 31 Sun Bowl college football game, as the hotel hosts one of the bowl teams each year. According to the hotel’s general manager, renovation of the 13,500 square feet of meeting spaces, including the 8,000 square foot ballroom, should help boost the meetings’ business.

Bentley Legacy Holdings, through its partnership with Pendant Capital, has acquired The Raphael Hotel, Autograph Collection, located in Kansas City, MissouriBentley Legacy Group, the management area of BLH, has immediately assumed management of the hotel. Under new ownership and management, The Raphael Hotel will undergo a refresh of the guestrooms and enhancements to the lobby and other public spaces. The property offers an onsite restaurant and meeting facilities.

Hotel Equities announced its selection as the management partner for the highly anticipated Hampton by Hilton hotel in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Developed by Haven Development, the project marks the first Hilton focused service hotel in the area. The new hotel is the inaugural property under Hotel Equities’ Trust Hospitality division, marking the company’s debut in the Caribbean and Latin American markets. Scheduled to open in Q1 2025, the Hampton by Hilton St. Thomas will offer an indoor/outdoor bar, a restaurant, and additional amenities.

Hilton Integrity, Operations, and Hotel Management is getting ready to open a new Home2 Suites in Lynchburg, Virginia. The new hotel will feature 82 guestrooms, a business center, and a fitness center. The hotel is tentatively scheduled to open on June 12.

The Scottsdale Resort & Spa, a Curio Collection Resort by Hilton, has completed a $40 million renovation of its guestrooms, public spaces, Luna Spa, and four new dining spots. A highlight of the resort’s transformation is The Stillman Villas, comprising 12 two-story villas within an existing building. The Luna Spa features indoor treatment rooms, a Zen meditation garden, sauna, steam room, and more. The resort boasts 18 versatile meeting venues with 45,000 square feet of flexible interior space and an additional 40,000 square feet of outdoor areas.

IHG Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of a new-build Staybridge Suites hotel in Des Moines, Iowa. The 108-suite Staybridge Suites Des Moines North - Ankeny offers an onsite pool and a fitness center. The property is owned and managed by BMP Hotel Development, LLC.

Choice Hotels International, Inc. announced the opening of Everhome Suites in Nampa, Idaho, marking the midscale extended stay brand’s third opening, with more than 10 open hotels forecasted within the next year. The four-story, 122-room Everhome Nampa offers a contemporary multipurpose lobby; outdoor area with barbeque grills, fire pits, and green spaces; meeting space; Homebase Market; a fitness center, and guest laundry facilities.

Extended Stay America announced the opening of the Extended Stay America Premier Suites Fort Myers - Airport in Fort Myers, FloridaTurnstone Group developed the property which Sandpiper Hospitality will manage. The four-story, 124-room newly constructed hotel features a fitness room, onsite guest laundry, outdoor pool with grill area, and Extended Stay America Premier Suites’ signature spacious lobby with additional vending options.

Roomza announced the opening of Roomza New Orleans at Melrose Mansion on June 1, 2024. The hotel features 20 spacious suites and a stunning courtyard with a pool. Roomza, Inc. is assuming brand management of the Melrose Mansion in partnership with the hotel owner and operator, J Collection Hotels.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Decameron All Inclusive Hotels & Resorts formed an alliance to expand all-inclusive offerings, including nine new resorts across MexicoPanama, and Jamaica. Each of Decameron’s nine all-inclusive resorts joining Wyndham combines optimal relaxation, immersive culture, and endless opportunities to enjoy time away from home. Five resorts from Decameronwill join Wyndham’s Trademark Collection by Wyndham brand, while four others join Wyndham’s Ramada by Wyndham brand. The nine resorts include: Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias, A Trademark All-Inclusive located in Riviera Nayarit, MexicoGrand Decameron Panama, A Trademark All-Inclusive ResortGrand Decameron Los Cabos, A Trademark All-Inclusive Resort in MexicoGrand Decameron Montego Beach, A Trademark All-Inclusive located in Montego Bay, JamaicaGrand Decameron Cornwall Beach, A Trademark All-Inclusive, situated in northwest Jamaica; Decameron Los Cocos GuayabitosRamada All-Inclusive Resort on Mexico’s western coast; Decameron La Marina GuayabitosRamada All-Inclusive Resort, and Decameron Isla Coral GuayabitosRamada All-Inclusive Resort, both located in Riviera Nayarit; and Decameron Club Caribbean Runaway BayRamada All-Inclusive located in Runaway Bay, Jamaica.

Personnel Move

Omni Hotels & Resorts announced the appointment of Michael Innocentin as its Chief Marketing Officer. Innocentin will oversee the planning, development, and execution of all brand marketing initiatives, including advertising, public relations, social media, the website, and digital campaigns. Additionally, he will direct Omni’s customer engagement and Select Guest Loyalty programs. Prior to joining Omni, Innocentin served as the senior Vice President, Commercial Projects at Fairmont Hotels.

International Highlights

Hilton announced the opening of its newest European property, Legacy Hotel Cascais, Curio Collection by Hilton, in Cascais, Portugal. The intimate 59-room hotel features both indoor and outdoor pools and Legacy Spa by Wake with three treatment rooms, a sauna, and a modern fitness center. The hotel is the third Curio Collection by Hilton property in Portugal.

City Developments Ltd announced its unit, Copthorne Hotel Holdings, has completed the acquisition of the Hilton Paris Opera Hotel for €240 million. The historic five-story, 268-room hotel is located in the Paris central business district. With the acquisition of Hilton Paris Opera Hotel from funds managed by BlackstoneCity Developments now has three hotels with 670 rooms in the French capital.

The Copthorne Hotel Aberdeen, located in Copthorne, UK, announced the completion of an extensive refurbishment across all 87 guestrooms and public areas.

The Vines Resort & Spa, located in Mendoza, Argentina, announced its new plans to expand beyond the resort’s 21 spacious villas in celebration of its 20th anniversary. The resort introduces The Vines Residences, 55 new exclusive rental properties, each with unique floor plans. The Vines Resort & Spa also plans to introduce six new restaurants and dining concepts, a new spa, entertainment offerings, and fully equipped meeting spaces over the course of the next two years.
