Choice Hotels' New Branding for Radisson Americas

Choice Hotels is revitalizing its Radisson Hotels Americas brand with new visual identities, enhanced guest experiences, and significant renovations at key properties.

The DJIA was up 107 points while Nasdaq was down 11, the S&P 500 was up 9 points and the 10-year treasury yield was up .01 to 4.69%. Lodging stocks were mixed. SOND was the biggest mover, down -5%.

STR reported U.S. lodging data for the week ended January 4th. U.S. hotel RevPAR was up 14.9%, and rates were up 11.7%. RevPAR rose despite Group RevPAR being down -25.7%. New Year’s Day was on Wednesday instead of Monday in the previous year.

LionGrove announced the purchase of ADERO Scottsdale ResortAutograph Collection, marking LionGrove’s first hotel property in Arizona. The resort features 177 rooms, including 16 suites and 32 casita-style rooms, two heated pools, a sundeck, a wellness studio, a boutique spa, a signature restaurant, and more than 16,800 square feet of event space.

According to the Business JournalSteam Real Estate LLC has scrapped its plan to build a Residence Inn hotel at 170 Mercer Street in Seattle, Washington.

IHG Hotels & Resorts, in collaboration with owner Diamond Hotel LLC, celebrated the opening of a newly converted Holiday Inn & Suites hotel in Richmond, VirginiaHoliday Inn & Suites Richmond - West End offers 141 fully renovated guestrooms, 2,000 square feet of meeting and events space, a restaurant, and an outdoor pool.

Choice Hotels International, Inc. announced its re-imagination of the Radisson Hotels Americas brand, which it acquired in 2022, with the introduction of new visual identities, including new logos for RadissonRadisson Blu, and Radisson Individuals. Later this year, Choice will unveil elevated and flexible food and beverage concepts at Radisson hotels, along with other enhancements to the guest experience. Radisson-branded properties will begin showcasing the new visual identities through property signage and other onsite materials this year, starting with the Radisson Hotel El Paso Airport in Texas and the new Radisson Blu Fargo in North DakotaChoice has also invested in strengthening Radisson-branded hotels in its portfolio. This year, it will begin a $15 million renovation of the Radisson Blu Mall of America. It also completed a sweeping renovation of the Radisson Salt Lake City Hotel, with new designs in the lobby, guestrooms, and meeting spaces. A second phase of the renovation will be completed this year and will include the addition of 215 West, an onsite coffee shop.

CoralTree Hospitality was awarded the management of Poco Diablo Resort in Sedona, Arizona. The 137-room resort offers onsite dining, a Spa at Poco Diablo, a heated pool, and four courts for tennis and pickleball. Poco Diablo offers more than 8,500 square feet of indoor meeting spaces as well as an additional eight-acre lawn. The resort will join the Outbound Hotels collection of lifestyle hotels and will be rebranded as Outbound Sedona following a planned transformation of its outdoor environment, spa, guestrooms, and public spaces. CoralTree currently manages Outbound Mammoth in California.

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of two new hotels in Miami. The Iberostar Waves Berkeley Shore and Iberostar Waves Miami Beach are both located in the heart of South Beach and fall under the Iberostar Waves brand. Iberostar Waves Berkeley Shore offers 96 rooms, a heated pool, a rooftop solarium, and a specialty restaurant. Iberostar Waves Miami Beach features 82 rooms and a meeting room, along with proximity to the Miami Convention Center.

Next month the Opal Collection will open a new luxury beachfront resort in FloridaOpal Sol in Clearwater Beach, giving Opal Collection a total of 27 hotels and resorts, 21 of which will be in Florida. The new Opal Sol boasts three pools, seven restaurants, Opal Spa, 57,194 square feet of event space, and a sprawling Event Lawn.

The Radical, located in Asheville, North Carolina, is now welcoming guests following the recovery from the effects of Hurricane Helene. The hotel has 70 guestrooms and suites. The hotel’s flagship restaurant, rooftop bar, and its café and bar will reopen in the coming months.

The Well House Hamilton Hotel is celebrating its official grand opening today. The hotel project was led by Vision AWH LLC, a partnership between Vision Reality Group and Lighthouse Hospitality Group. Located in Hamilton, Ohio, the Well House Hamilton Hotel features 54 guestrooms, two conference rooms, an exercise room, and more.

A project to add new hotel rooms, a restaurant, and a rooftop bar adjacent to the Coeur d’Alene Resort in Idaho is set to move forward. BoiseDev reported on the expansion that calls for a new 15-story tower on the current site of a close restaurant building. The Coeur d’Alene Press reports construction will start this spring. The Press and Resort are both owned by Hagadone Corporation. The new building, dubbed the Sherman Tower, will include a three-level parking structure. Hagadoneis presenting the new hotel as a separate project from the main resort but designed to seamlessly complement the existing campus.

Inspirato Incorporated plans to expand its curated portfolio of residences and destinations in 2025 and beyond. This initiative intends to add new homes in some of the world’s most sought-after destinations while enhancing its portfolio in key existing markets. JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality group announced the sale of Parker Beach Lodge, a 50-room, recently renovated hotel on Cape Cod, MassachusettsJLL represented a private owner in the transaction. The hotel will be managed by Jamsan Hotel Management for the new ownership group. The hotel offers an outdoor pool and the Parker Swim Shop.

W Sao Paulo and W Residences Sao Paulo have opened as the brand’s first property in Brazil. Located in a modern skyscraper atop Rua FunchalW Sao Paulo features 179 hotel rooms starting on the 25th floor, including 16 suites; AWAY SpaFIT gymWET Deck complete with an outdoor pool, along with two restaurants; three bars; and five event spaces. Additionally, an ornate walkway bridges Rua Funchal to Rua Helena. From the second to the twenty-second floor, the property also boasts 216 W Residences. Amenities include an indoor pool, two saunas, a relaxation area, a FIT gym, a co-working space, and an event hall.

Personnel Moves

Four Seasons appointed Keisha Smith as Executive Vice President and Chief People and Culture Officer. Keisha will oversee the strategy and execution of all aspects of the company’s global People and CultureInternal Communications, and Environmental, Social, and Governance efforts. Before joining Four SeasonsKeisha served as the Chief People Officer at Tory Burch.

Highgate announced the appointments of Randy Diamond and Angela Nolan, who will serve as Vice Presidents of its expanding portfolio across the Hawaii region. Diamond will lead as Vice President of Operations for the growing portfolio of independent hotels managed by Highgate Hawaii, including Alohilani Resort Waikiki BeachKaimana Beach Hotel, and Romer House Waikiki, among others. Nolan will lead as Vice President of Operations for eight branded assets, including Twin Fin WaikikiHilton Garden Inn Kauai, and AC Hotel by Marriott Honolulu, among others.

Extreme Hospitality announced Ryan M. Alpert has joined the company as Chief Commercial Officer. In his new role, Ryan will spearhead overall revenue generation strategies for Extreme Hospitality’s portfolio of hotels and hospitality assets, driving top-line growth and optimizing the commercial success of the properties under the company’s management.

Europe Highlights

Village Hotels acquired the former Crowne Plaza site at Caversham Bridge, Reading, UK, marking the company’s first foray into Reading. The property was acquired from Brightbay Real Estate Partners, which is affiliated with Starwood Capital Group. Following this acquisition, Village Hotels plans to execute expansive multimillion-pound renovations and upgrades at the site, with the aim of aligning it fully with its brand identity. The former Crowne Plaza features stylish bedrooms, Pub & Grill dining, versatile meetings and events space, Starbucks coffee outlets, and comprehensive health and wellness facilities. The official reopening date of the site has yet to be announced.

The owner of the Paris Marriott Champs-Elysees hotel has refinanced the hotel for €175 million, Business Immo reports. Kai Yuan Holdings Limited bought the property in 2014 for €344 million from Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. The Paris Marriott Champs-Elysees has 192 rooms and suites along with conference facilities, several restaurants, and a fitness center. It recently started a renovation of its rooms and suites.

In yesterday’s publication, we covered Truist Securities’ downgrade of Playa Hotels & Resorts as the stock price had been trading close to their $13 price target. They asked if we could clarify their views on the potential for Hyatt to purchase them so they gave us a statement to include. That statement is: “We always thought there is a greater likelihood than not that the transaction for Hyatt to buy them will be completed and were not skeptical, rather somewhat surprised at the time. – So, no change to our opinion on the likelihood that Hyatt buys Playa.”
