The DJIA rose 285 points, the Nasdaq was up 49, the S&P 500 rose 24 points and the 10-year treasury yield was down .03 to 4.28%. This was a bit surprising considering the warning Fed Chief Powell gave about inflation due to the trade war. Lodging stocks were mixed. SHCO was the only mover of note, up 4%.
STR reported U.S. lodging data for the week ended 5/3. US hotel RevPAR was up 4.1% year over year for the week. ADR was up 2.2% and occupancy rose 1.8%. Group RevPAR was up 13.1%. The Passover year-over-year shift boosted results.
Asante Asset Management announced that construction is progressing rapidly on the new AC Hotel by Marriott in St. Augustine, Florida.
