Chinese Hotel Bookings in Japan Drop 50% to 70% After Government Advisory

Hotel bookings from China dropped by by more than half the week after the Chinese government's advisory against visiting Japan. Plus, hotel development news.

STR/CoStar announced China hotel data for the week ended November 29th. Hotel RevPAR in China was up 1%, up against a comp of a gain of 2.4% in the year-ago week. Last week, China hotel occupancy was down -2.1% year over year, but ADR was up 3.1%.

Singaporean travel to Western Australia has exceeded pre-pandemic levels with 117,000 visitors and A$413 million in travel spend. The latest International Visitor Survey showed a 9% increase over 2019 levels, up 18% compared with last year. There were 117,000 Singaporean visitors to Western Australia recorded in the fiscal year ending June 2025, showing it remains one of Singapore's preferred short-haul destinations. The average spend per visitor was A$3,531, up 52% year on year and among the highest of any international market.
