Service Properties Trust Sells Five Hotels for $47 Million

Service Properties Trust sold 5 hotels with a total of 679 keys located in four states for a combined price of $47 million. Plus, more hotel deal news.

It was a rough day in the markets, particularly for tech stocks. The DJIA was down 228, but the Nasdaq was down 418, nearly 2%. The S&P 500 fell 79 points, and the 10-year treasury yield was flat at 4.15%. Lodging stocks did not have a bad day, definitely better than the overall market. The only mover of note was AHT, up 6% on the day.

Barclays said it is Neutral on the Lodging sector for 2026. It did upgrade Hyatt and Travel + Leisure, though. H was upgraded to Overweight while TNL was upped to Equal Weight. Barclays said the key catalyst for upgrading H was the closing of the Playa real estate transaction. It expects general divergence in the sector between the high-end and mid to lower end to continue in 2026, which is likely to be exacerbated by the World Cup. H is up to 16% of its domestic rooms in Luxury and 43% in Upper Upscale, higher than other U.S. C-Co
