H World is expanding beyond China into Southeast Asia with its first Hanting Hotel opening in Ho Chi Minh City in December.

STR/CoStar reported China hotel data for the week ended January 17th. Hotel RevPAR in China was down 12.7% year-over-year for the week, up against a comp of a 0.8% increase in the year-ago week. ADR for the 2026 week was down 6% while occupancy was down 7.1%.

Despite strong visitation, Macau hotels cut their prices in December of 2025, with overall room rates down 4.7%. The Association Members of the Macau Hotel Association said 5-star properties saw room rates fall by 6.2%, averaging US$175 in the month. Occupancy was down by 0.6%. Occupancy was down just 0.1% for 3-star hotels, and they cut their room rates by 6.4% to US$119.50. The 4-star hotels saw the biggest drop in occupancy, down 1.6%, and dropped their rates 3.6% to US$142.40. What everyone should be seeing by visitation and gaming revenue is that day trippers are driving visitation, and VIPs are driving the casino revenue growth.
