Sri Lanka tourism arrivals in March declined sharply, reflecting the impact of geopolitical tensions in West Asia on international travel flows. The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority said arrivals fell to 183,979 in March 2026, following strong numbers of 277,327 and 279,328 in January and February. The ongoing conflict in the Gulf and Middle East has disrupted key transit hubs used by travelers to reach Sri Lanka. India remained the largest inbound market in March, accounting for 25.8% of the arrivals. The UK arrivals were a distant second at 9.8%.
