Puerto Rico Tops U.S. Hotel Demand Growth Rankings

According to the U.S. Travel Association, hotel demand in Puerto Rico grew by 7.6% year-to-date through April. Plus, hotel development news.

The DJIA rose 595 points, but the Nasdaq was down 207, the S&P 500 was flat, and the 10-year treasury yield was up .01 to 4.49%. Lodging stocks were modestly higher. BHR was the big mover, up 6% on the day.

Baird issued a report on hotel REITs and how FFO/share revisions continue to trend higher. Hotels have seen the highest upward revisions of the overall REIT group, with nearly all seeing higher estimates. Baird said this was led by Pebblebrook Hotel Trust, Xenia Hotels, and Sunstone Hotel Properties. That has not been lost on stock prices, as we have been reporting with Baird saying six hotel REITs - PEB, RLJ, HST, XHR, DRH, and APLE are in the top 10 for returns in the past 12 months.
