The Second Edition hotel will open in Tokyo. Ian Schrager has once again joined forces with Japanese architect Kengo Kuma on the Tokyo Edition, Ginza. The launch follows three years after Edition’s first foray into Japanwith the Tokyo Edition, Toranomon. Marriott's Edition Ginza will have a low slung blend of old and new unfurling from the lobby’s doorstep. Spread over 14 floors, the hotel has 86 guestrooms including 10 suites with separate living areas. The regular rooms, at 41 square meters, makes them the largest standard rooms in the district. The Tokyo Edition, Ginza is now open in preview.
Banyan Tree will go separate ways with the subsidiaries of China’s second-largest developer by sales, China Vanke, with both parties buying out each other’s stakes in their joint ventures. Banyan Tree made the announcement that would involve Banyan Tree acquiring the shares of two JVs for 480 million yuan from China Vanke units and selling its shares in another JV for 30 million yuan. Banyan Tree will pay 425 million yuan out of the full sum in cash using internal resources while the remaining amount is to be offset against the proceeds from its sale of stakes in the third JV, as well as receivables. The hotel management company’s subsidiaries Banyan Tree Services and Banyan Tree China entered into a term sheet to acquire all of the stakes owned by two China Vanke units in Banyan Tree Services (China) and Banyan Tree Hotel Management (China).
The Sofitel Sydney Wentworth will undergo extensive refurbishment works next year, including the redesign of guest rooms and the introduction of new restaurants and bars. The building was originally owned by Qantas, located on Philip Street in Sydney’s central business district. The hotel previously traded under the Sheraton and Rydges brands before becoming a Sofitel property in 2004. It was acquired by a fund managed by global investment firm KKR in strategic partnership with Futuro Capital and Marprop Real Estate Investors in 2021. The hotel underwent a minor refresh last year but will now have an A$60 million transformation program. The property will close for six weeks on January 8, 2024, to allow for works to take place. The renovations are expected to be completed by Australia’s spring next year, the end of 3Q24. All 436 rooms and suites are to be redesigned with corridors, the club lounge, and lobby areas also being renovated. A new world-class dining precinct will be introduced, including new restaurants and bars.
After four years in construction, Te Arikinui Pullman Auckland Airport Hotel was officially opened. The hotel is situated just 100 meters from the international terminal at Auckland Airport. The 311 room hotel is described as a 5-star premium experience and status.

OYO has promoted Deputy Chief Financial Officer Rakesh Kumar to the position of Chief Financial Officer. This follows the recent buyback of a portion of its Term Loan B, totaling INR 1,620 crore. Kumar was credited with taken on various business and partnering roles and has led the transition of acquisitions within OYO including two European organizations, Direct Booker and Bornholmske Feriehuse.
