STR/CoStar reported on China hotel data for the week ended September 13th. China hotel RevPAR was up 6.5% year-over-year, a nice turnaround from the past few months. Last week’s RevPAR was up against an easy comp of a decline of 12.1% in the year-ago week. We should remind you that September and October in China tend to have weird comps because of the Golden Week/Mid-Autumn Festival timing. For the week ending 9/13, China hotel ADR was up 2.1% while Occupancy was up 4.3% year-over-year.
Seven hotels have opened in Bangkok in the first half of 2025, adding close to 2,000 new rooms to the city as it gets tougher to fill them. The Capital’s occupancy rates began to soften, spurred on by the decline in Chinese visitation to the country. A further 12 hotels, totaling 3,283 rooms, are expected to open by the end of 2025.
