JLL Macau’s latest mid-year report shows the resurgence of Macau’s tourism industry is underpinning a more optimistic outlook for hotel assets. JLL said the hotel industry retains its competitive edge, particularly in terms of room rates and occupancy levels. While the hotel business is holding up, JLL said Macau’s residential market weakened during the first half of the year. Transaction volume fell by 13.1% year-on-year. Hotel room supply was up by 4.9% across the first half of 2025 to nearly 44,000 rooms. Occupancy rates stood at 89.1%.

Bali is considering a ban on the construction of new hotels and restaurants following the flash flooding earlier this month. The government is planning to stop new permits for building on productive land, including Bali’s rice fields. Experts believe stricter controls could help mitigate the impact of flooding and other natural disasters. Starting this year, the land conversion ban will align with Bali’s 100-year plan.
