Tropical North Queensland recorded $1.1 billion in international visitor spend, driven by strong market growth and campaign activity supported by the Federal Government’s Tourism Recovery Program. The record high spend positions the region as Queensland’s best-performing tourism market. International visitor numbers rose by 14.6% to 595,000, according to Tourism Tropical North Queensland, for the year to September 2025. The international visitor spend was up by 18.5%.
Blackstone announced that Real Estate funds managed by Blackstone have entered into an agreement to acquire Hamilton Island. The iconic integrated resort destination in the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, Australia, is being sold by the Oatley family.
