STR’s global bubble chart for October 22 showed Singapore standing out in the Asia Pacific region while noting continued, steady recovery for most of the world. STR said China hotel RevPAR fell -35.8% for the week ending October 22   on a year over year basis. It is doubtful the RevPAR comps in China will look much better in coming weeks as Covid outbreaks following Golden Week are spurring closures and lockdowns. Best Western Hotels & Resorts signed a strategic partnership for two beach apartment buildings on Vietnam’s southeast coast .

STR reported China lodging data for the week ended 9/24. Hotel RevPAR was up 5.1% year over year. When compared with the same week in 2019, RevPAR was down -21.5%. The St. Regis Jakarta is set to debut on November 10, 2022, within Jakarta, Indonesia’s Golden Triangle District. Club Med said their three Japan properties are ready to welcome back guests. That includes the brand new Club Med Kiroro Peak, opening in December 2022.

The  DJIA  ended Friday with a gain of 377 points while  Nasdaq  was up 250, the  S&P 500  rose 61 points and the  10-year treasury yield  was up .03 to 3.32%. Lodging stocks were modestly higher. USA Today published a story, actually a prediction that new hotel fees may be popping up . The St. Joe Company and InterMountain Management, LLC announced the commencement of construction on a new hotel in Panama City Beach, FL .

Choice Hotels International, Inc. has completed the acquisition of the franchise business, operations and intellectual property of Radisson Hotels Americas. Selina filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission a registration statement on Form F-4, in connection with its previously announced proposed business combination with BOA Acquisition Corp. The Gulf Coast’s first beachfront Hyatt Place hotel is now open in Panama City Beach.

STR reported Sydney, Australia hotel occupancy dipped in July from June. Occupancy in July 2022 was 65.8% while ADR was A$239.96 resulting in RevPAR of A$157.80. The Business Times reported business has picked up so much in Singapore that hotels are frantically looking for employees as staffing levels have yet to match the tourism pickup. Choice Hotels Asia Pacific said corporate travel has returned to a new normal with guests seeking value for money as work trips merge into leisure.
