Rosewood to Bring Its Branded Residences to Florida
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts announced Rosewood Residences Hillsboro Beach , located two miles from both Boca Raton and Pompano Beach, Florida . The Vinoy Resort and Golf Club, Autograph Collection has completed the initial phase of a comprehensive renovation led by Rockwell Group . Simon Property Group purchased the Hampton Inn & Suites at Phillips Place from Phillips Place Hotel Investors for $42 million. -

Bulgari Hotel Tokyo Opens
The Bulgari Hotel Tokyo has opened its doors. The hotel is located on floors 40-45 of Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, a new skyscraper overlooking the Tokyo Station, the Imperial Palace Gardens and the city. The Singapore Tourism Board said the number of visitors arriving in the first quarter of 2023 reached 2.9 million, representing 62% of its 1Q19 visitation figure . STR reported on China hotel data for the week ended April 1. China hotel RevPAR rose 153.9% year over year for the week against easy comps. -

U.S. Hotel Sector Continues Its Recovery
The DJIA gained about 1%, or about 270 points, while Nasdaq rallied 2.4%. The S&P 500 added about 1.7%, erasing an earlier decline of 0.7%, and the 10-year treasury yield climbed to 3.58%. WTTC Calls Out 5 APAC Cities for Post-Covid Rebound Success
The World Travel & Tourism Council reported positive signs of recovery for the Asian travel and tourism sector with five major metropolises seeing a significant economic rebound . Macau visitor arrivals in January doubled year on year, reaching nearly 1.4 million, but a hospitality and tourism management professional has warned Macau will only see half of the yearly pre-pandemic visitors this year . Accor announced plans to open a Mercure property in Tokyo, Japan. Mercure Tokyo Hibiya will be housed within the existing Uchisaiwaicho Heiwa Building, close to JR Shimbashi and Uchisaiwaicho stations . -

Marriott’s Stellar Quarter and Optimistic Outlook
Marriott International followed up Hilton’s solid 4Q earnings report with one of their own, easily beating estimates on solid 4.6% RevPAR growth. 21c Museum Hotels will open its tenth hotel this spring, a 10-story lodging in St. Louis, Missouri. Marriott was up $6.90 a share, Hyatt was up $4.73, Hilton was up $2.38 and Airbnb is currently surging double digits in after hours trading on their earnings report -

China’s Average ADR Surpassed 2019 Levels During Lunar New Year
STR said during the seven-day Lunar New Year holiday period, China’s hotel average daily rate surpassed 2019 levels . In the recently released China Construction Pipeline Trend Report from Lodging Econometrics , analysts report the country’s total hotel construction pipeline, at the close of the fourth quarter, stands at 3,581 projects/675,074 rooms. Morgan Stanley said Macau’s hotel occupancy and daily room rates are showing unprecedented strength in the post-Chinese New Year period with at least two hotels fully booked through February and many others close to capacity. -

Accor and Ennismore Have Ambitious Plans for 2023
The Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the country has decided to resume outbound group travel to selected countries including Sri Lanka early next month. The Philippines Dept. of Tourism said it is aiming to attract 4.8 million foreign visitors in 2023, almost double the 2.6 million in 2022. The initial goal in 2022 was 1.7 million arrivals. Sri Lanka Tourism is looking at attracting 1.5 million tourist arrivals for 2023. They are optimistic about achieving revenue of US$2.8 billion from tourism for this year. -

TFE Hotels, ShriGo Hotels and Grand Amanta Expand
STR said China hotel RevPAR the week ended 12/24 was down -21.9% year over year and down -38.9% versus the same week in 2019. Marriott International said its transformation of the Sheraton Hotels & Resorts brand continues to build momentum across the globe. TFE Hotels will launch into 2023, opening three new-build hotels in the first half. The Adina Apartment Hotel Pentridge Melbourne will open in Australia in February. -

Accor Reveals Asia Property Openings for 2023
Accor announced its list of highly anticipated properties that will open in 2023 . Marriott International announced it expects to reach 50 hotels in Thailand by mid-2023, including adding an anticipated eight hotels next year. Anantara Veli Maldives Resort reopened on December 1, following nine months of extensive renovations. -

Hilton Plans More Luxury Rollouts
STR reported China hotel RevPAR for the week ended December 3. RevPAR was down -2.6% on a year-over-year basis while down -40.2% against the same week in 2019. More reports are coming out about China’s decision to roll back Covid-Zero rules . The latest STR report, commissioned by Arabian Travel Market, conducted at the end of September 2022, suggests the GCC region now has over 170,000 hotel rooms under active development.
