Barclays Previews First Quarter Results for Hotel Groups

Barclays previewed the first quarter for the lodging sector, suggesting mixed RevPAR results due to the March Easter shift, but maintaining expectations for in-line EBITDA among large caps, while adjusting target prices for major hotel brands including Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Wyndham, and Choice Hotels.

Dolly Parton Could Open a Nashville Hotel 

Truist reports that lodging companies aren’t experiencing recession-driven demand declines, with strong group and individual business but weak domestic leisure. Dolly Parton may be venturing into Nashville’s hotel market with a $75 million building acquisition, and Toftrees Golf Resort in Pennsylvania announces a $50 million renovation. A new $175 million development in Mishawaka, Indiana, includes apartments, townhomes, and a 125-room hotel.

Marriott’s Next New Midscale Brand

CBRE Raises Hotel Performance Forecast for 2023

STR reported US RevPAR for the week ended May 13 was down -1.3% year over year, possibly impacted by Mother’s Day timing. CBRE is again raising its forecast for hotel performance this year . The company has revised its forecast for 2023 RevPAR to $97.89, up 6.0% YOY and an increase of $0.43 from its previous forecast. Hilton announced the opening of Canopy by Hilton San Francisco SoMA .
