In 2023, the Taj brand strengthened its presence in key metro and commercial cities, including Delhi, Cochin, Dhaka, and Bhutan. Vivanta and SeleQtions collectively added 17 hotels while Ginger signed agreements for six new hotels.

Accor Welcomes 23 Mercure and Grand Mercure Hotels in Japan

Accor is rebranding 23 Daiwa Resorts properties in Japan as Mercure and Grand Mercure hotels in 2024. The first Hyatt Place hotel in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, is now open, connected to Paradigm Mall. Swiss-Belhotel International rebranded an upscale property in Surabaya, Indonesia, as the Grand Swiss-Belhotel Darmo.

Radisson’s Luxury Brands Expand in Southeast Asia and the Pacific

Sentosa Island in Singapore is on track to recover its pre-pandemic visitor numbers within one to two years, with new projects like Raffles Sentosa Resort & Spa and Sentosa Sensoryscape expected to boost visitation. Macau SAR experienced a -28.6% decline in visitor arrivals in September, but it anticipates a potential increase in October, aiming to reach 24 million visitors by the end of the year. Accor has become the world’s largest player in extended-stay hotels outside of the United States, offering various brands such as Novotel Living and Adagio, with plans to open new properties in different locations.

Conrad Seoul Back on the Market for $750 Million

The 434-room Conrad Seoul, a Hilton-branded hotel in South Korea, is back on the market for $750 million. Hyatt Hotels Corporation has inaugurated the Hyatt Place Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Jalil, Malaysia’s first Hyatt Place and the first international hotel in the Bukit Jalil area. Iconic Penang Sdn Bhd is developing the Iconic Marjorie Hotel, a 298-room five-star Marriott property in Penang, Malaysia.

Asia Pacific to Regain 92% of Its 2019 Business Travel This Year

The GBTA Business Travel Outlook shows Asia Pacific is forecast for significant growth, with travel spending gaining 41% to US$567 billion this year. Trip.com said outbound travel order for the upcoming Golden Week increased nearly 20 times, and domestic travel increased more than four times over the Golden Week period last year. Accor announced their Novotel brand’s fiftieth hotel opening in Greater China with its newest destination, Novotel Xi’an Aden.

Macau Reopens to Foreign Citizens

Tomorrow is the first day that foreign citizens from 41 countries will be allowed to enter Macau  since the start of this crisis. The travelers will still have to undergo seven days of quarantine in a designated hotel followed by another three days of self-health monitoring. Control of theme park  Huis Ten Bosch Park in Japan  is being transferred to Hong Kong-based asset management firm  PAG . IHG Hotels & Resorts  announced the opening of its  600th hotel in Greater China with the debut of Kimpton Bamboo Grove Suzhou.
