The Rosewood Hotel Group is set to expand its global presence and enhance its portfolio, which currently includes 48 properties across 23 countries, with new openings in Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and the Americas, alongside growing its residential business.

Accor announced its list of highly anticipated properties that will open in 2023 . Marriott International announced it expects to reach 50 hotels in Thailand by mid-2023, including adding an anticipated eight hotels next year. Anantara Veli Maldives Resort reopened on December 1, following nine months of extensive renovations.

Looking at  India's  hotel sector , JLL  said contracts in  mid-market and budget brands  grew 74% between January and September 2022 as compared to the same period in 2019. Marriott International’s St. Regis Hotels and Resorts brand announced the opening of the St. Regis Goa Resort. Bengaluru-based real estate developer MS Ramaiah Developers and Builders  plans to invest about Rs 1,100 crore over two years across real estate sectors in Karnataka, Goa, and Andhra Pradesh .

Fitch Ratings revised the Maldives’ outlook to Negative from Stable while affirming its Long Term Currency Issuer Default Rating at B-. The number of international tourists to Cambodia  is expected to reach the pre-Covid-19 pandemic level in 2026. Indian Hotels  and other hospitality firms in India have said they are eyeing price rate hikes. IHCL recently went back on that, saying the price hikes will have to wait until November. Hyatt Hotels Corp  announced the opening of Hyatt Centric Sector 17 Chandigarh, marking the debut of the Hyatt Centric brand there.

Accor said they are experiencing a sustained recovery in their Western Australia hotel, apartment, and resorts network . Accor also said they are bullish on India , with plans to open mid-level hotels across metros and budget brands in tier-2 and tier-3 cities but also adds to its luxury portfolio with another Raffles property in Jaipur soon. The Park Hotels will run a 65-room hotel at the Digha Convention Centre. An agreement was signed with the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority.  

STR said China RevPAR for the week ended August 13 was up 107.7% year over, up against a -28.9% comparison. According to the recent Asia Pacific, excluding China, Hotel Construction Pipeline Trend Report from Lodging Econometrics , at the end of the second quarter the region’s total construction pipeline grew to 1,891 projects/396,517. Trip.com said that off-season travel between July to September for both Australia and Southeast Asian countries showed an increase as borders reopen.
