Macau Arrivals Highest Since June Outbreak

Macau saw 65,677 visitor arrivals over the weekend in the first two days of the National Day Golden Week. There were 37,442 people recorded on Saturday, signaling the highest daily visitor volume since June 2022 pandemic outbreak.

Marriott International announced their JW Marriott brand opened the JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort Suites, an all-suite luxury retreat nestled in a serene beachside setting on southern Thailand’s Andaman coast. The family-oriented resort offers a selection of stylish and spacious two bedroom suites, a total of 52 ranging from 89 to 111 square meters. The suites include private terraces or balconies that overlook the natural tropical surroundings. On the ground floor, a collection of pool access suites allow guests to step straight into Southeast Asia’s longest swimming pool, a 2.4 kilometer-long lagoon that features a water slide, a wave pool and an aqua trampoline. The resort is located just an hour’s drive north of Phuket. JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort Suites will share the extensive facilities of JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa, including the Aqua Play Zone, a fully equipped fitness center, racket sports, the Kids Club and Quan Spa. The resort has a collection of 11 restaurants and bars. The JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa includes 127 keys made up of 76 Deluxe Lagoon Pool View Rooms, 28 Deluxe Lagoon Pool Access Rooms, 20 Family Pool Access Studios, two One Bedroom villas and the Two Bedroom Villa.

Hilton Grand Vacations announced the grand opening ceremony for The Beach Resort Sesoko, a Hilton Club, the second Hilton Grand Vacations resort to open in Japan. The resort is located on Sesoko Island, a remote island off the western coast of Okinawa. The grand opening ceremony takes place a year after the resort open to owners and guests. Hilton Grand Vacations now has a significant business base in Japan with nearly 70,000 owners in the country. The property features a modern twist on the rich heritage of Okinawa and is located near the Naha Airport. All 140 rooms, including studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites, have ocean views, private balconies, and are equipped with full kitchens and washers/dryers in the unit.

Indian Hotels Company announced the signing of a SeleQtions hotel in Dudhwa, Uttar Pradesh. The currently operational property will be rebranded under the SeleQtions brand. The hotel is a franchise with Dudhwa Adventure Resorts Pvt Ltd and is located near the Dudhwa National Park. Nestled in the rain forest of the Terai region of the Himalayas, the property will provide a gateway to three neighboring forests reserves. The 20 room hotel is set amidst 100 acre fruit orchards, a comfortable driving distance from both Lucknow and Bareilly. The hotel will be operated by AM Hotel Kollection under the SeleQtions brand, slated to open later this year. With the addition of this hotel, IHCL has 17 hotels in Uttar Pradesh including eight under development.

Pulse Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of its newest addition to its portfolio, Nova Maldives. The resort is located in the heart of the South Ari Atoll, 25 minutes away by seaplane from the Velana International Airport. The all-natural island includes 76 spacious over-water and beach villas with 10 category designs. The resort includes the Eskape Spa, nested over-water with views of the Nova Lagoon.

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay in Vietnam announced the introduction of Ninh Van Greens, the first in-resort solar farm in the country, named after the resort’s location and the idea for harnessing solar to power the resort while growing crops for the restaurants and spa.  The Ninh Van Greens solar complex has the resources to produce electricity, organic vegetables and fruits, and hot water. The solar farm houses a 17,222 square foot organic garden called Solar FreshCuts. The land beneath them can be used to grow organic food crops while energy is being produced. Since August, a total of 31 crops have grown, providing 1,278 pounds of vegetables to feed guests and hosts. Ninh Van Greens will also house 15 different varieties of fruit trees, including bananas, jackfruits, mangos and pomegranates.  Six Senses Ninh Bay has a plant-based fine dining experience next to the solar farm called The Farmhouse, a spot that can host 20 guests at a time. The Six Senses Ninh Van Bay comprises 62 pool villas on the beach, nestled between rocks. The resort includes the Six Senses Spa.

Centara Hotels & Resorts has appointed Siriwan Wangthamrong to the position of executive vice president of human resources. Siriwan was most recently director – human resources and administration for G4S Security Services (Thailand) Limited.

Katara Hospitality said they strengthened their partnership with Accor with the opening of the new Fairmont Tazi Palace Tangier in the Norther region of Morocco. The new luxury hotel is set to open in this final quarter of 2022 and will feature 133 luxurious rooms and suites, a Fairmont Spa, multiple restaurants and bars, as well as modern conference and banquet spaces. Accor currently operates 41 properties in Morocco totaling 6,215 keys and has a pipeline of four additional properties with 768 keys in development.

DoubleTree by Hilton Doha Downtown has opened its doors, adding 257 serviced apartments, integrated facilities and dining venues to the heart of Doha. The hotel is 10 minutes from the city center and 20 minutes from the Hamad International Airport. The 257 hotel apartments range from one to two bedrooms and two VIP suites. The hotel is well equipped with high-end facilities and amenities including a fitness center, outdoor swimming pool with a Jacuzzi, fully equipped spa, fully equipped guestrooms and two upscale restaurants. There is also a meeting room and fully equipped 24/7 business center for those visiting on business.

Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai unveiled King by M.O. a new beachside eco-conscious concept store that offers a curated collection of fully sustainable resort wear, swimwear and accessories.

The Cheval Collection announced the signing of a management agreement with Nakheel which will see the debut of its Cheval Maison brand in Dubai. The 131 serviced apartment property is due to open in the first quarter of 2023 and will feature a rooftop pool, range of one, two and three bedroom apartments including a three bedroom penthouse, lobby lounge and F&B offering, gymnasium and private parking.  The signing of the Dubai property is further progress in Cheval Collection’s focus on expansion through management contracts. In addition to Dubai, the group is due to open two properties in Glasgow, the newly launched brand MY Locanda in 2024 and a recently announced Cheval Mansion in Glasgow in 2025.
