Pan Pacific Hotels to Double Serviced Suites Portfolio

Pan Pacific Hotels Group announced it will double its serviced suites portfolio in 2023. Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group announced it will manage a new resort with branded residences in Phu Yen province, one of Vietnam’s coastal regions. InterContinental Khao Yai Resort in Thailand has unveiled 19 Suites and Villas, housed within repurposed heritage railcars marking the final phase of its opening journey.

India Hotels Projected to See 23% Growth Over Pre-Pandemic Levels

STR reported China hotel RevPAR for the week ended 11/19. RevPAR was up 9.8% year over year in China while down -37.6% versus the same week in 2019. CapitaLand’s Ascott Limited unveiled its refreshed Somerset brand. This is the second largest brand in Ascott’s Global Portfolio. Crisil Ratings said the Indian hotel industry is likely to witness 23% growth in revenue this fiscal over the pre-pandemic level, driven by a strong recovery in business travel and continued traction in leisure travel.

China RevPAR Improves YoY But Falls Short of 2019

STR reported China lodging data for the week ended 9/24. Hotel RevPAR was up 5.1% year over year. When compared with the same week in 2019, RevPAR was down -21.5%. The St. Regis Jakarta is set to debut on November 10, 2022, within Jakarta, Indonesia’s Golden Triangle District. Club Med said their three Japan properties are ready to welcome back guests. That includes the brand new Club Med Kiroro Peak, opening in December 2022.

Marriott Plans Luxury Expansion Across APAC

Marriott International  announced it expects to open  14 additional luxury properties   in Asia Pacific by the end of 2023 . Marriott currently operates 156 luxury properties in the region. Construction of the long-awaited resort at  Kalgoorlie Golf Course  in the city of  Kalgoorlie-Boulder  in  Australia  has finally begun. PT Platnet Properindo Jaya Tbk will initiate the operation of Citi Hub Hotel, Kelapa Gading in Indonesia in 2023.

Singapore's Changi Remains the Busiest in Asia

China reported 2,312 new Covid infections nationwide today , the first time in more than three months that cases topped 2,000 for three consecutive days. Singapore’s Changi Airport emerged as the busiest airport in Asia in the three months to June 30, 2022, recording more than double the number of passenger movements than its nearest rival. Hong Kong Will Ease Quarantine on International Arrivals

Hong Kong announced plans to further ease its arrivals quarantine requirements . More than 50 luxury hotels are set to open in Jakarta and Bangkok within the next five years , highlighting the expectations of a strong economic recovery. Accor is teaming up with PT.
