Rosewood Adding Properties in 5 Countries

Rosewood Hotels is expanding globally in 2025 with new luxury properties in Japan, Mexico, Qatar, Amsterdam, and London, offering luxury accommodations, dining, and wellness experiences.

In Observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday in the United States, there will be no Daily Lodging Report – Asia Pacific on Wednesday, November 27, and Thursday, November 28. Regular service will resume on Monday, December 2.

The Singaporean government has introduced the Hotels Licensing (Amendment) Regulations 2024, set to take effect in January. The update is aimed at increasing regulatory efficiency and adapting to the evolving needs of the hospitality industry. Some of the most notable changes include the introduction of new provisions for the governance and procedural aspects of hotel management, making clear the role of the vice chairman of the Board and that he or she can step in during the absence or incapacity of the chairman. Regulation updates also touch on how the meetings are conducted, allow for Zoom and other non-physical attendance approvals. There are also updates on applying for hotel certificates of registration and licenses with Singapore’s GoBusiness website where every application must be submitted. Stronger guidelines concerning the operation of hotels also are part of the amendment.

China has expanded its visa-free entry program again, this time to cover citizens from nine additional countries – Japan, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, and Latvia. Another update is that starting November 30, visitors from 38 eligible countries can stay in China visa-free for up to 30 days, doubling the previous limit of 15.

Japan, Mexico, Qatar, Amsterdam, and London will welcome new Rosewood Hotels in 2025, showcasing unparalleled luxury and redefining travel experiences globally. Introducing the first Rosewood property in Japan, Rosewood Miyakojima will boast 55 designed villas and four distinct dining venues and the Asaya integrated wellness concept. Opening April 1, Rosewood Mandarina will join the brand’s prestigious portfolio in Mexico. The property offers 134 luxurious suites, five restaurants and bars, and the signature Asaya spa. Slated for a 2025 debut, Rosewood Doha will feature 155 guestrooms and suites, 162 serviced apartments, and 276 residences; a variety of dining options and a plethora of upscale amenities. Coming soon to the Dutch capital, Rosewood Amsterdam will transform the historic former Palace of Justice. The property will feature 134 rooms and suites, three restaurants, and the Asaya wellness concept. Set in London’s prestigious Mayfair district, The Chancery Rosewood will offer 144 luxurious accommodations. Rosewood Hotels & Resorts continues its expansion with new properties planned in Rome, Milan, Seoul, Shanghai, Crete, and Mexico City.

IHG Hotels & Resorts announced the signing of Crowne Plaza Danang City Centre under a management agreement with Regis Bay Vietnam Investment Joint-Stock Company. The 283-key property is expected to open later this year and will help meet the growing demand for meetings and events in the city. The hotel is being rebranded from the existing Bay Capital Danang Hotel. The hotel includes an all-day dining restaurant, lobby lounge and bar, meeting spaces, swimming pool, spa, and fitness center.

The 533-room Millennium Hilton Bangkok has undergone an extensive renovation and innovative makeover. The transformation attunes to the post-pandemic resurgence in Thailand’s hospitality industry and includes new upscale dining experiences, wellness-focused amenities, sustainable practices, and more.

Centara Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of Centara Mirage Lagoon Maldives. The resort offers a meandering lazy river, swimming pool, kids’ pool, and a lively water playground. Younger guests can enjoy a Kids’ Club, Candy Spa, while adults get to go to the Spa Cenvaree.

Onyx Hospitality Group is expanding its Shama serviced apartment brand internationally. New openings have included Shama Hub Qiantang in Hangzhou, China; Shama Hub Metro South in Hong Kong, and Shama Suasana, located in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Onyx has imminent future development plans in Malaysia, Laos, and Thailand. Their plan is to expand the business both in Thailand and across Southeast Asia. Immediate plans include launching Shama Luxe in Malaysia, Shama in Laos, and Shama Hub in Thailand.

Marriott International’s Sheraton Hotels & Resorts brand announced Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows has officially reopened following a US$8.5 million renovation. The resort is located in the capital, Apia, and features 175 spacious accommodation options, including 149 guest rooms, 23 private bungalows, and 3 suites, each with private balconies or patios. The hotel’s façade has been refreshed, and the arrival experience has been revamped, including a fully remodeled lobby. There is a newly opened poolside restaurant, while the other F&B options and 500 meters of event space are there for guests.

Hann Casino Resort, located in the heart of Clark Freeport Zone in the Philippines, is set to undergo a significant expansion. Hann Philippines has announced plans to further develop the flagship property, promising to significantly boost the resort’s capacity with new facilities designed to cater to the demand for luxury accommodations, entertainment, and dining. The development includes construction of new hotel towers, an expanded gaming area, and state-of-the-art amenities aimed at attracting high-end visitors. More luxurious suites and VIP accommodations will be added, with the expanded gaming floor having more gaming tables, slot machines, and other features.

Hann also said they have broken ground on a new 10-hectare public park as part of the group’s 450-hectare eco-luxury sanctuary resort Hann Reserve in New Clark City, Tarlac, Philippines. The park is divided into phases, with phase 1 expected to be completed by the end of 2026, featuring mountain biking trails, fitness areas, mini-golf areas, and more. The other two phases will be done by 2030. The eco-luxury resort will feature luxury hotel brands including Banyan Tree, Sofitel, Emblem, Westin, and InterContinental Hotels & Resorts. The cost of the overall project could top $4 billion. The casino is expected to open in 2028. The launch of Hann Reserve is expected in 2026, with development continuing to 2031.

In other news, Hann Resorts said they are likely to postpone their IPO until mid-2025. They want to secure new funding for Hann Reserve and continue the upgrades to Hann Casino Resort.
