India's Hotel Occupancy to Reach 70% This Year

Industry forecasts suggest India's hotel occupancy will reach 70% this year, with room rates set to to cross the INR 10,000 mark in 2026.

STR reported China hotel data for the week ended April 26th. Hotel RevPAR in China was down 8.1% year-over-year. The week was up against an easy comp with an 11.9% decline in the year-ago week. The decline was mostly due to average daily rates, as the ADR for the week was down 6.6% year-over-year, while occupancy was down 1.7%.

HVS Anarock India released their 2024 India Hospitality Industry Overview. In terms of their 2025 views that were included in the report, they described the outlook for India's hospitality sector as electric, kicking off with momentum from Coldplay's sold-out concerts in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. HVS Anarock expects nationwide occupancy to reach 70% this year and average room rates to cross the INR 10,000 mark in 2026. That being said, they did recommend that to fully capitalize on the growth trajectory, long-awaited policy reforms must be prioritized. They named granting industry and infrastructure lending status
