STR reported on China hotel data for the week ended September 27th. Hotel RevPAR in China was down 4.3% year-over-year for the week, up against a tougher comp of a decline of 0.7% in the year-ago week. For the 2025 week, ADR was up 2.2% year-over-year, but occupancy was down 6.3%.
China is expecting 2.36 billion holiday trips during this Super Golden Week, with Thailand hoping it will benefit from the return of the Chinese and their spending. The combination of National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival in Golden Week has officials forecasting 2.36 billion passenger trips across the country, with 295 million journeys each day. About 2 million of those will be cross-border trips daily, with many bound to Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asia.
