Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, has requested the Hotels Association look to build in destinations outside of Colombo. The logic is that Colombo has sufficient hotels, but areas outside the city have limited options. Specific areas mentioned include Bandarawela, Badulla, Ampara, and Jaffna, with Sri Lanka Tourism having land available for the development of hotels there.
