The Pacific Asia Travel Association, in partnership with the Research Centre for Digital Transformation of Tourism at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, has released its Asia Pacific Visitor Forecasts 2026-2028: Mid-Year Update. The report covers 39 destinations and projects international visitor arrivals in the Asia Pacific region will reach 714.9 million in 2026, 758.8 million in 2027, and 789.2 million by 2028. Arrivals are expected to reach 115.6% of 2019 levels by 2028. Among the region’s 10 largest destinations, Vietnam is forecast to have the highest growth between 2025 and 2027, with IVAs rising by 31.2% to 27.8 million. Macau is second with 19.4% growth, followed by Japan with 15.8%. China is projected to receive 157.8 million arrivals in 2027, up 2.2% over 2025 levels. Thailand and the USA are expected to see more moderate gains of 5.2% and 9%, respectively.
