Choice Hotels Asia-Pac is adding two Ascend Collection properties in Australia through established owner-operators. Plus, more hotel deal and development news from APAC.

STR/CoStar reported China hotel data for the week ended May 23rd. China hotel RevPAR was down 1% year-over-year. It was up against what should have been an easy comp with RevPAR down 9.4% in the year-ago week.

Macau’s hotel guest occupancy rate rose year-on-year in April 2026, led by five-star properties. This is despite the total number of guests edging lower. April was up 2.4 percentage points to 90.2%, with five-star hotels at 93%, up by 2.1 points. Four-star hotel occupancy was at 88.2%, up 5.8 points, while three-star hotels were at 84.6%, up 0.2 percentage points. The number of guests staying in Macau hotels declined by 0.8% year-on-year to 1.186 million in April, with guests from Mainland China down by 1.7% to 844,000. In the first four months of 2026, the average hotel occupancy rate was up 2.2 percentage points year-on-year to 91.8%, with hotel guests up 1.9% to 4,865,000. International guests are up 13.8% to 453,000.
