Cambodia’s international arrivals fell nearly 48% to 1.54 million in the first five months of 2026, down from 2.95 million during the same period last year. The Ministry of Tourism said China, Vietnam, and the United States were the top three inbound tourism markets. The downturn was blamed partly on the Middle East conflict, which sparked flight disruptions and high fuel prices. The decline also reflected regional economic slowdowns, online scamming issues, and the impact of border disputes with Thailand. The kingdom reported 5.57 million international visitors in 2025, earning a gross revenue of 3.87 billion US dollars.

In northern Laos, Luang Prabang tourism has reported more than 824,000 visitor arrivals in the first four months of 2026. The total included 253,175 domestic tourists and 570,994 international tourists to the UNESCO World Heritage destination.
