Indonesia Begins State-Owned Hotel Consolidation

Indonesia’s state investment agency has launched a plan to consolidate state-owned enterprise hotels under InJourney. Plus, more hotel deal and development news from APAC.

STR/CoStar reported China hotel data for the week ended June 20th. China hotel RevPAR was down 2.7%, up against what should have been an easy comp with a decline of 7.7% in the year-ago week. The average daily rate was up 5.5% year-over-year for the 2026 week, but that was offset by a drop of 7.7% in occupancy.

The Macau Statistics and Census Service said Macau hotels officially recorded an average room occupancy rate of 89.8% in May, up 1.8 percentage points from a year earlier. Five-star hotels were up 1.1 percentage points year-on-year to 92.8%, four-star hotels were up 6.9 percentage points to 87.7%, and three-star hotels were down 0.6 percentage points to 83.8%. This was even with the number of hotel guests falling by 4.5% year-on-year to 1,174,000 in May. International guests were up 16.1% to 117,000, but that could not offset the decline from mainland China (down 6.2%) and Hong Kong (down 8.6%).
