Fliggy forecasts strong Dragon Boat Festival travel rebound while Accor transforms Shanghai's Peace Hotel into Raffles.

Alibaba Group’s Fliggy online travel platform released its 2025 Dragon Boat Festival Travel Forecast. They noted a strong rebound in outbound travel compared to 2024, with regional destinations within a four-hour flight radius, including Hong Kong SAR, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand, remaining the most popular among Chinese tourists. Fliggy also noted long-haul and off-the-beaten-path destinations like Uzbekistan, Iceland, Qatar, Kazakhstan, and Tanzania are attracting travelers. Right now, major provincial capitals like Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Kunming are continuing to dominate domestic travel itineraries, but second and third-tier cities are rapidly climbing in popularity.
