The Asia Pacific Tourism Outlook 2026-2028 from the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, forecasts 765 million arrivals by 2028, with uneven recovery across sub-regions and shifting source market dynamics shaping growth strategies. Obviously, this study was completed before the Iran conflict started. The study indicates international visitor arrivals across the region are set to surpass pre-pandemic levels, despite continued exposure to economic, geopolitical, and environmental uncertainty. This year, it forecast 710 million international arrivals in Asia Pacific, 104% of 2019 levels. Northeast Asia is forecast to regain the largest market share in Asia Pacific by 2027, fully recovering in 2026. West Asia is projected to be the fastest recovering sub-region, exceeding pre-pandemic levels by 23.9% in 2026. Southeast Asia is expected to return to 2019 levels in 2026, while South Asia is forecast to be 13% above the pre-pandemic yea
